I’m not going down any avenue. I’m simply offering my opinion. For me, He wins nothing in the air, lacks a turn of pace, isn’t strong enough on the ball and rarely gets any joy when running at defenders. Not once did I mention his finishing, nor did I bring Chaplin into it. I was referring to why is he starting ahead of Morris, who in my opinion has more to offer.
Woodrow and Morris are different players - it's not one or the other imo. Woodrow 7th top scorer in the division. Above Stanislas, Wells, Danjuma, Sarr, Meite, Wallace, Deeney, Lowe and Fletcher. He's also got more assists than Pukki, Powell, Pedro, Solanke and Campbell. To pick him out suddenly after our first defeat is very, very odd.
If today’s game was one too for the team it certainly was for Woodrow. To be fair to him he put a big shift in on Wednesday and perhaps ought to have started on the bench today
Nowt wrong with Woodrow that playing in a different style wouldn’t sort. It’s not like he’s not trying or missing easy chances.
Possibly his worst game for us today. I like Woodrow, but what really annoys me about him, is this thing he does when the balls played up to him, where he faces their defender rather than trying to win the ball. Paul Hayes used to do it. Its as though he's afraid of being clattered from behind.
We've been missing decent forwards for ages. Now we've got Morris and Dike, it's not difficult to work out why we've gone on a stellar run.
Sadly it always happens, a few people forget they are human beings NOT machines but i do think it comes mostly out of disappointment.
I don't think our forward were bad before we signed Dike and Morris, Woodrow certainly isn't a bad player, and I can't see the effect Frieser has. But they were missing that foil that would help get the best out of them. Frieser has played his best football for us since January, and I think that's down to the presence of Morris and Dike. Woodrow's been hit and miss, but he's certainly had his stronger games during this run. Just a bad day at the office today.
Our finishing was tosh for ages - we were topping the chances created and the chances spurned leagues. Woodrow won't be as effective playing this type of football. Chaplin looks useless. Victor's betwixt and between. We're trying to be brutal up front. We could do with a fox to pick up the pieces.
