I’d like to see us go up and finance some structure into the club , Especially the facilities and the academy . Don’t want to splash it all on players and wages which tbh I don’t think these owners will do . Keep to the system and if we do go back down we have the facilities and staff to compete instead of struggling
Not so sure, management isn’t such a short career, so unless it’s also a very long contract as well as a very valuable one, then he’ll need to be careful when picking his next move
I want to see us playing in Europe. Finishing 7th in the PL seems to be the way to do it. I want to watch Barnsley away at somebody like Slavia Prague, Hajduk Split or Rapid Vienna. I'm not going to get greedy and say Barcelona or Bayern Munich, just a nice Thursday getaway to somewhere in Central Europe
When was the last time a club got to the premier league without spending loads? Think we would set a new record
I have to say, it’s quite something that I’m now reading folk saying we have to go up this year. We ‘have’ to go up. To the Prem. Folk are genuinely saying that. What an unbelievable journey this last 12 months has been, where it’s now going to be seen by some as failure this season were we not to get promoted to the top flight for only the second time in club history. I’m just feeling chilled that we’ve stayed up. With eight games to spare. Absolutely nothing to lose for the last five weeks of the season. Everything to gain.
Not a failure by any stretch of the imagination. I just don’t see us repeating this feat again or bettering it next season tbh.
I’m no lover of VAR but it’s still in it’s infancy. Surely they’re iron out the wrinkles in next couple of seasons. Anyhow we can’t possibly be any worse off under VAR in regards to getting some fairer treatment than we currently are.
It’s not linked to failure at all from what I’ve read. A very, very small number of people have just said to keep this team together we have to go up, or that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and won’t come around again. On that basis we have to go up, in terms of seizing the moment, not because we’ll have failed if we don’t.
Same here, I was fortunate enough to see us in our one season in the top flight, would love us to get there again so that my son could experience times like that.
Would be in interesting to see what we could do with that money. As far as I know and not counting the COVID situation, we haven’t pushed the boat out on a promotion challenge, so I would imagine that the full amount would be there for the club to utilise. Could we unearth the next level of gems by spending a bit more on transfers and wages?
If we did go up then great. If we didn't then no matter. We have achieved far more this season than I ever expected and for once not having to worry about relegation is a major relief. I love that more than anything else. What would concern me is how we would cope in the prem. Our current playing style would be so so different from what is the norm for the prem that we'd either take it by storm or we'd fail so miserably that it could be embarrassing. Being in the playoffs is a great achievement, losing in them would not be fatal.
Yeah, maybe worded it badly. Was more a nod to the incredible turnaround on the pitch over the last year, and turnabout in opinions. That folk were worrying about what might occur if we don't get promoted. To the Prem.
I detest the premiership with a passion but I would love us to go up if only to secure our future for many years to come and also hopefully make us one of the stronger teams in the championship in the likely event we’d come back down, however it’s not the end of the world if we don’t make it, I’m just happy that we’re now mathematically safe with 8 games to go
The main aim, this season, was to maintain our championship status. We have achieved that , anything more is a total bonus.
If the fowels can fat If we dont go up and i dont think we will theres no way on earth ANYONE can say this season would be seen as a failure - surely?
