RIP Frank, great player, that goal for Bolton I think was against Ipswich amazing, should have played more times for England.
Oh no another leaves us. Brilliant footballing entertainer. His like rarely seen today. Sad loss. R.I.P. Frank.
RIP Elvis. One of the great entertainers in the Pantheon of football rebels with Best, Rod Marsh, Stan Bowles, Robin Friday, Gazza, you can add your own. Players like Frank Worthington made you smile whenever they played, sadly they literally are a dying breed. So sad to see you go but thanks for the great goals and magic you gave us.
Sad day. Back in his early playing days for Huddersfield my family knew him well. My auntie was close to him and when people noticed his car they would knock on my Grandparents door and ask to see him. Bit of a rock star style image over this way. Loved ladies and Football and was excellent with either.
RIP. Back in the day, I knew a Wombwell lad and Huddersfield supporter, Stan Crossland (one or two older Wombwell cotributors may remember him). Stan refused to believe that Worthington had been transferred and insisted that the reason he wasn't playing for Huddersfield any more was due to injury. A bit so a one off was Stan. Sadly Stan passed away some years ago.
From a purely selfish and BFC perspective I'd add Adam Hammill and Paddy McCourt to that list. Thankfully they, along with Gazza, Stan Bowles and Rodney Marsh, are still with us.
