Opposite of the intimidation one. Best candidate for me was MK Don's. My kids first away game, and they (fans and stewards etc) couldn't do enough for us. Obviously he was very small at the time, but without doubt the most pleasant away day experience I ever had... Topped off brilliantly by his favourite player at the time bagging the 3rd goal at the end.
I liked it at Villa Park. I went with a Villa fan and a Kilmarnock fan (both lads from work) in the Premier League season and we were sat in with the home fans. When Ward scored I couldn't contain my joy so everyone round me knew I was a Reds fan. Only one was even slightly unpleasant and he was told to shut up by the rest of them. At the end they all shook my hand and wished me and Barnsley the best for the rest of the season. Contrast that with that lot at St Andrews....
Wembley, every time we've been. Good and friendly stewards. Good cheerful service from the food and beer outlets.
Shrewsbury. When the coach pulled away at the end of the game their fans waved, rather than the obscene gestures you usually get. Spent a weekend there in the eighties, very friendly town, and a decent night out I might add.
I went to Griffin Park a few years back and I can't remember a more relaxed and welcoming environment. It also helped that we won 2-0.
Accrington Stanley surely! in over 50 years of following the Reds I haven’t seen another club come within 10% of what they do for away supporters. They put the Premier League Clubs to shame.
Huish Park, Yeovil. Huge beer marquee open to all fans, fans who were keen to have a chat and not even any insulting chants from either side during the game. Rochdale has always been brilliant as well, win or lose. Chippy and social club are always full of home and away fans, you get a full stand to yourself and again, can't remember any malice or insults thrown around.
Agree with Rochdale, can’t comment on Yeovil (doubt I’ll get chance to check it out for a while). Great summer evening at Rochdale when we were promoted under Stendel. Big Keiffer hat trick just the icing on the cake.
I always enjoy a trip to Fulham too, locals generally friendly, plenty of good pubs within walking distance (the Oktoberfest bar deserves a special mention) and we’ve not fared too badly there result-wise.
Fulham very welcoming. Had a good chat with Fulham fans prior to the game. Burton Albion same again Brighton - great facilities and didn't come across any obnoxious fans.
