We were told children aren't vulnerable from covid without any underlying health issues now they are wanting to vaccinate them.

Not sure mate but I've not heard a definitive statement from anyone to say categorically that it does. Until that happens I'd err on the side of caution, wouldn't you?

The government website updated this month's simply says 'we don't know'.

I still suspect that it does but that they aren't say that as it will cause mass refusal to follow any rules by the older folk who have been vaccinated which will in turn cause mass refusal to follow any rules by the younger population who feel they're sacrificing the most freedoms despite being lowest risk.

That's not a dig at anyone, not the vaccinated older folk and vulnerable, the unvaccinated younger healthy folk or the government who don't have a prayer of forcing people to stay at home when they know they're extremely unlikely to transmit the virus.

It's also just a guess and they might generally have no idea if it does or not because it was rushed and hasn't been fully tested

I think you're probably right with this, the last thing they want is for people to believe they can't transmit it to others.

As for vaccinating children, makes sense if we want to reduce the spread and get back to normal.

But kids rarely get flu and they've been having the flu vaccine for a few years now.

Yes Redhelen, but the flu vaccine has been established and tested for years. It's a dilemma if we are looking to vaccinate them to promote herd immunity from Covid19 over their own safety, especially if we don't know or understand possible long term effects. Are you saying they should have the Covid vaccine asap? Sorry if I am barking up the wrong tree.

I was just staying that babies, toddlers and infant school.children have been. having the flu vaccine for a while now. As to whether or not they should also have the COVID vaccination I'm not sure, but as a parent I would probably say yes.

All the kids I know of varying ages are quite matter of fact about it all. I'm wondering where you work because at my sons school they're nearly all doing the tests?

We’ve had either 97 or 99% (can’t remember now) take up rate on tests among students.

Yes we have had the flu jab, I'm just a bit hesitant for the kids sake because I don't know what the long term effects are because I don't know how you would estimate it if there's no data, i.e. no one's had the vaccine long in their body.
