if you are a rich tax avoider who doesn’t care about anyone else And another of the many reasons why you shouldn’t if you aren’t rich or do care about others
The one thing Trump said in the run up to the election that he won, that had any resemblance to reality, was when he said that he could shoot someone and it not cost him a vote. The shower we have in charge now realise that is true. As long as they ramp up the populist rhetoric at the right time to push the right buttons, they can just shamelessly get away with anything.
And yet... Labour Dan Jarvis 14,804 40.1 −23.8 Brexit Party Victoria Felton 11,233 30.4 Conservative Iftikhar Ahmed 7,892 21.4 Is that not truly depressing?
Are people more likely to vote Tory if 'they are richer' or Labour 'if they are poorer' for that matter? Labour's voting patter has been moving more towards a South of England progressive left of centre model for some time and the Conservatives have been making great inroads into the North. Isn't that trend likely to continue (and it's ultimately good for Labour) because the alternative would need them to introduce a load of regressive centre right polices (economic and social) in order to try to retain their vote in the North. Better to have a set of centre left principles to try to gather people around isn't it..... It's a similar pattern that's developing in a lot of western democracies - most notably the USA.
The Tory government only care about their rich mates, such as the big landlords who won't make as much rental money so Sunak wants people back to the office, so the donors don't cut what they can afford to donate.
If you're going to shaft the electorate get a couple of nice big Union flags to stand in front of as you do it. They'll love it. Ingerland, Ingerland, Ingerland.
I think the minimum is now 4 flags looking at the new government briefing room (that cost millions and was built by the Russians).
Imagine being so naive you believe that Labour is any different. They agree with everything the government does and Starmer is a member of the Trilateral Commission, a billionaires club created by David Rockefeller.
I saw an article this morning where Charlie Stayt on BBC breakfast had been chastised by BBC News management for a quippy comment he made to Robert Jenrick a few days prior. If you didn't see it, it got to the end of the interview. Stayt highlighted the huge union jack over Jenricks shoulder and quipped that it was a little small. He didn't say anything else. Just very light banter and obviously making comment on whats obvious to anyone, this sudden onslaught of red white and blue in the most ridiculous of places in these interviews with tory MPs. It's ever so sad now that a passing quip is jumped on by the Tories and using the Tory Chair and the Tory head of news to suppress any other dialogue. This country is going into the darkest of rabbit holes.
The Union flag will be flown from all UK government buildings every day and councils will be urged to do the same from their premises. "It will act as a proud reminder of our history,” said Oliver Dowden. “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past,” said George Orwell.
This is the thing. The Chair of the BBC is tory, former boss of Sunak, and a donor to the party. The head of BBC news is a tory. The Director General is tory (and formerly a tory councillor and ran the Hammersmith and Fulham Tory party). The hope of independent fair news coverage is long gone. What with Stayts rebuke and the deplatforming of Emily Maitliss a few months back. In previous governments there was effort to have neutrality and balance and ensure opposition parties had representation in public sector institutions that the government picked heads of. Those days seem very long ago.
The worrying thing is that the numpties can't see this and think it's pro left wing, hence the clammer for Gammon News with Andrew Neil.
As I said the other day. Visually we'll end up as a cross between the US and the Third Reich. Flags and jingoism everywhere. When I came over 18 months ago and we toured the Dales I was shocked by the number of Union flags being flown. I've always been proud to be British, I don't need to wave a flag to convince myself or anyone else.
Bingo. That's the thing for me, and exactly how I feel. I've spent almost 40 years on this earth, and I'm extremely proud to be British (hopefully I won't get thrown in jail for saying that) However, I fail to see the need (for want of a better term) to Flag Sh*g.
Love another good old left wing political post on here zzzzzzzzz roll on next Friday bring on reading.
