Genius comedy/comedians....

    The word genius is an oft used word nowadays and in certain spheres of life it is an apt word, but, is there such a thing as comedy genius? The closest I can get to thinking of a comic genius is Larry David, Curb your enthusiasm, is for me, the finest comedy show of all time.
    Please feel free to offer up more opinions on comedy genius.

    Eric Morecambe and Ronnie Barker for me. The "Andrew Preview" sketch is the pinnacle for me, although in fairness, André Previn and Ernie Wise both make it work. Barker was probably the best comedy writer and character actor, Fletcher and Arkwright still make me laugh now.

    I'll also offer a shout for the regulars on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue - Barry Cryer, Graeme Garden, and the late Jeremy Hardy and Tim Brooke Taylor among others.

    And I've always liked the Tommy Cooper / Tim Vine stuff.
