You're always going to get a moronic minority who attach their beliefs to a symbol like that. At the end of the day, f**k 'em...
You are someone exactly of my mould lol... I doff my cap! Trouble for me is I'm always carrying shekels for materials
I used to kick kids' sandcastles in. Especially if they had British flags on them. That was two years ago though.
I am stunned , how people can make an issue out of this beggers belief , I know 90 % of posters on here seem to turn everything into a political argument but we are talking about a flag , I worked for the Royal Mail for years & actually enjoyed seeing the Union flag being displayed outside our buildings , there is everything what is going off in the world & people are getting upset about our National flag , they want to get a life , its pathetic .
As long as it doesn't lead on to pledging allegiance or singing the national anthem at the start of the day!
Loved decorating my castles with those little paper flags and shells. And getting my dad to dig the moat round for me. I only remember the separate UK ones though, not other countries
People are upset about the Tory clowns in Westminster trying to deflect from the fact that they are all useless
No, I don't think that's it. I can't stand this government. They're a disgrace, as are the opposition, too. But I don't see why it's controversial for our national flag to be flown over key municipal buildings. Of course anyone who thinks this is reasonable is jingoistic BNP-voting fascist scum these days. Which reflects to me how sick we are as a country. The union jack should be a symbol we can all get behind and should be proud of. British values. Tolerance, freedom (lol at everyone's ideas and freedom these days), liberty etc. Thousands have died defending what the flag represents. And today the union jack is flown by many in Hong Kong to symbolise freedom. I get that many people don't like their country and would much prefer the EU flag flying over the town hall. And that's completely fine. But don't say that it's all about people being annoyed at the Tories trying to cover up their mess. Because it's more than that. For all its faults, by comparison to many, this country is a great country to live it (well, the pandemic and increasing government authoritarianism is changing my mind on this). If people don't like it here and are repulsed by a flag, live somewhere else. Appreciate we all have our own views. Just own them.
Nice one! If you're coming down from Denby I'm working on a house just before the junction. At one point I had cones out on the road, on the last bend, so i could prop the ladder up. Talk about abuse!! It was unrelenting! Come over and say hello if you like? I'm always up for a yarn
You weren't sticking a flag up were you !!!! I'll keep an eye out for you and might treat you to a growler.
What a load of tosh , I am not interested in politics & flying the Union flag deflects nothing from me , I am British & proud of it & enjoy seeing the flag flown , why do political activists assume that everything has to have a political motive , it might come as a shock, but not all of us want someone else"s ideals shoved down their throat at every opportunity , we are talking about flying the British flag in Britain , its no big deal .
I agree. I don't think there has been a single post in this thread that has accused anyone of being BNP-voting fascist scum. That is quite the leap you've made. It's definitely jingoistic though. Jingoism - an attitude of belligerent nationalism, or a blind adherence to the rightness or virtue of one's own nation, society, or group, simply because it is one's own.
I dont know about sticking one up.... oo err... but I ended up flagging in the heat. Feet up at home now, Bira Moretti, and snap being delivered
