Commentators are just like journalists and tv hosts, they are either slagging you off or up your arse.Maguire said it right,we all make mistakes and perfection in football is boring.
I think Heliks trailing leg may have made contact with Sterling. But the expression on Sterlings face as he goes down. Anyone would think he'd just had a Cantona kick in the windpipe. My first thought was it wasn't a penalty, but the way Helik lunged probably made up the referees mind. What did stun me was there was no VAR. An international qualifying game at Wembley.... no VAR. Incredible.
When Poland had the ball the back 3 split wide and the full backs pushed on. When they didn't have the ball, the centre halves played narrow and the fullbacks tried to make it more of a back 5. And i think it was that which confused Helik to a degree. But given Sousa has hardly had any time with them, given more time and practice, I think that system could help them and I reckon Helik could definitely do ok for them once he finds his feet.
I'd agree, it exasperates me no end but no matter how you're told to play there are certain situations that need a solid clearance. It's an accident waiting to happen system but it's too regular that Stones has the accident.
