Huge kudos and respect to the lad for having the courage to address his issues in this way. Keep fighting those demons Luke, and get well soon.
Hopefully he's on the road to full recovery.Good health both mental and physical has to come before work.
Had the pleasure of meeting Luke briefly when he donated a shirt for my charity auction and exchanged a few messages since. People forget he is a young lad who moved away from family at an even younger age. Received allot of unnecessary comments from Barnsley fans. Wish him all the best in his recovery
Get Well soon Luke ,best wishes . It must feel terrible being in the gold fish bowl when things aren’t going great . Everyone has an opinion on your performances and some can be cruel when things aren’t going well . It’s something that needs addressing imo by the FA and Clubs themselves. It’s a hard subject because everyone has a right to an opinion on a sporting/entertaining performance without being abusive but even the slightest criticism when you’re low can hurt . I don’t know what the answer is but it needs finding and implementing ASAP imo we’re all human with human feelings .
Sorry to hear that and wish him well. Nobody knows how anyone is feeling inside and what struggles they are having when they may appear to be okay. Lee Collins and Gary Speed are proof of this. It is okay not to be okay.
Yep it’s so easy to forget how young these lads are. I think back to how I was when I was 20/21 and question how I would have coped with the levels of pressure / criticism they’re under.
Had forgotten about Chris; watched him play and met him quite a few times and he was such a lovely man. Again, just shows appearances can be deceptive and you never know what’s really going on underneath.
Sad to hear that he's been struggling with his mental health. Footballers, even at league 1 level, are under a microscope constantly. The flack that these young men face on social media, is nothing short of overwhelming. People often forget that footballers are people too. Thankfully, Luke has had the courage to speak out, and is hopefully getting the support he needs.
A poster on here alluded to this at the back end of last season. Hopefully Luke makes a full recovery and can get back to what he does best.
