Ive just seen a post on Facebook, saying the bloke who introduced it and was our PA a while a go (Lenny) has actually recently passed away after a stroke. If true, it should also stay as a mark of respect to him
Leave it alone. We could be even further in the past with z car s or Wiseman say ( now those wouldn't lift me as a player!)
Been to Everton on many occasions and got to admit hairs on back of my neck stand up when Z cars plays- crowd just seem to tune in and get behind the team as they come out. I love timerider - it's ours and it's unique to us. The time they played it at Wembley before the game will live with me for a long time. Still think majority like it Oakhill judging by amount that clap along
I think you're mistaking old classic songs with novelty garbage that has aged badly. Timerider is not a classic, it's a hideous tune that should be binned off.
The best band of all time in my opinion! I can't think of a group of musicians that are technically better at their respective instruments
Like others I`ve never heard of the "Zep" song you`re referring to despite being of the age. I`d stick with what we`ve got but if not then at least go for something more people have heard of. How about - A Town Called Malice.
Gets a reaction from majority of crowd going by the clapping at the start ... always be a few who don't but majority do
The early 70s were before I was born and I don't tend to nod to that era at all. But I can understand people who particularly grew up in that era to be more attached to them. Just as i wouldn't expect many to be willing to accept a bit of Wild Boys blaring out as the reds march out of the tunnel ;-)
I'm 40 in a few weeks so neither was I! I'm sure you'll have heard Whole Lotta Love and Kashmir before. I will be amazed if you haven't!
You're old before your time ;-) I was going to reply that I'd not heard of either song title, but I thought I'd have a nosey on youtube before I replied to make sure. You're right, I have heard those tunes. I used to hate the top of the tops intro and the one thats kashmir, I never knew the title or who it was by, but it's one of the most irritating tunes I've ever heard. I think it must have been used a lot in the 80s for commercials or gameshows and the like and I developed an intense disliking of it. Weird how you can you dislike a band without actually realising who they are! Ah well, each to their own and all that.
Quite like Timerider. What I do wish would come back is goal music. I think it adds so much to the atmosphere.
