That definitely sounds like the one! YOU have a far better memory to remember all that detail. Not sure that I got the idea that it was Hartlepool but I remember more than one disappointing performances against them (often on cold rainy nights ) I do remember the impression of walking back to Monk Bretton and up Burton bank with a spring in my step and a warm cosy feeling after watching a great game rather than freezing my nuts off after a disappointing loss :)

Remember as a kid watching the game on the 26 Dec 1978 Barnsley vs Port Vale - we won 6-2 - Alistair Miller scored a free kick with the outside of his left boot from around 25 yards - we were talking about it at school for around a month afterwards and trying to reproduce it in the playground! - what a player, bit of a fat knacker like but what a left foot

I can remember walking up to Oakwell and Ali Millar was there, walking uphill with kit in a carrier bag, chatting away to all and sundry.
Pre-Clarke days obviously! When he turned up the club became had a bit more professionalism

Number one big Trev against Man City, 33000 official attendance but loads going up and over the wall on a old set of ladders behind the brewery stand. Loads also going through the emergency exit at the back of the social club. When he scored I must have gone 15 yards forward with out my feet touching the floor.
Number two Marcelle against Bradford because we all knew that the game was over and we were up to the promised land for the fiirst time in our history.
Barnards cracker against Huddersfield, if it wasn't for the emotion of the two above this would be easily number 1.

For the technique alone and these are Oakwell, not away goals:
    1. Brian Howard v Cardiff
    2. Barnard v Hudds
    3. Aylott v City

However, for meaning to us a whole and me personally:
    1. Banks free kick for a last minute 3:2 win v Burnley 1981 (35 yard deadball screamer)
    2. Marcelle v Bradford
    3. Odejayi v Chelsea FA cup quarter final

Honourable mention: Redfearn August 1997 First prem match and goal, half time champions, our high point as a club
