keep going hard at it, don't take the foot off the gas now. The moment we rest is after the last game of the season, hopefully that's the end of May
Not wanting to tempt fate but if we can`t beat Rotherham after last nights performance,we don`t deserve a play off place. They were bad.
I know. I didn't mean it that way. I just think if I was playing Coventry after Reading had lost I'd be more relaxed than if I was playing Coventry after Reading had narrowed the gap potentially to two points.
I love this 'pressure' of trying to cement a place in the Play Offs. It's far more enjoyable than the pressure of avoiding relegation, which we've endured for most of this Millennium in the second tier. If we manage to achieve this, it'll be well earned and thoroughly deserved, however we accumulate our points in these final five games. To suggest anything else is pathetic and puerile, in my opinion.
Your right. The heat is on. If you can't stand it get out of the oven. I need to get a grip. I'd be gutted if we lost to Coventry.
So will I. But if we finish in the top six, I'll be ecstatic and any lugubrious feelings about defeats during this campaign will instantly be forgotten.
It would be nice to finish in the top six. It would go down in the record books as a decent season. I think I'm more in the Sue Smith camp regarding our prospects though.
It wouldn't be a decent season in my opinion, it'd be a fantastic season. Especially when taking into account last season and narrowly avoiding relegation.
I'd say in the post war era this is one of our four most successful seasons if you factor in the league we're playing in.
I'd definitely look on it with fondness and watch re-runs of the 46 games on youtube. If we lost in the Play-Offs though I'd be turning it off there though. I haven't watched the Play-Off final from 2000 since then. However, I look back on the events until then with fondness.
Reading's 5 remaining fixtures- Cardiff h Luton a Swansea h Norwich a Huddersfield h I would say a tougher set than ours. They effectively have to win 2 more games than us to overtake us. Also note Bournemouth (only above us on gd) Their next 3 games- Norwich a Millwall a Brentford h The sun is out. Get in a beer garden enjoy a pint and relax.
Urban myth this. It's generally the teams with nowt to play for that do you. Shackles off, just playing for fun with half an eye on your contract for next season, trying all the training ground stuff and yes, a chance to piss on someone else's chips. Tread carefully.....
In what has been a dreadful last 12 months for everyone, our football club has been a rare shining light for us all. From the joy of avoiding relegation last Summer, to our push for the Play Offs in this. Everything has been positive and I, for one, am thoroughly enjoying it.
Racing Post gives a big shout for a Barnsley win on Sunday. They point out that we have won all five of our away games against teams in the bottom seven (I haven't checked this stat). Also that in our current run of away form we have beaten Brentford and Bournemouth and summing up "Ismael's men seem to be taking their unexpected promotion push in their stride." Apart from the Wednesday game where we were poor, in most games we have been the better team and from my perspective we don't show any nerves in games and just keep going until we score. No worries. Later in the paper in their top ten bogey teams the Post points out that Coventry have won 13 of their last 16 home matches against us. Another record to be broken.
Thing is we are not playing them last night , we are playing them next week so last nights performance is irrelevant , what I will say is that we have lost 2 games since january & therefore I would be amazed if we do not keep on picking points up for the last 5 matches , forget who we are playing & go about our business the same way as we have for the last 4 months & we will make the play offs .
