    Step forward Nikita Mazepin

Spoilt little rich kid who cheats regularly, has rammed cars off the road before, has filmed himself sexually assaulted a woman (and apologised when told to then deleted the apology) and now finds himself in formula one purely because of his rich daddy and daddy's friends.

So far he's managed 7 spins, hit the wall three times, and clipped his mechanics once.

And it's not even qualifying in race two yet.

I'll be honest, I'm a but out if the loop with F1. I follow the Instagram account, and noticed that all the hate towards Hamilton had shifted towards Mazepin, and I wasn't sure why.

Based on your post then, it's completely justified.

He should never have got the drive in the first place and got it purely because he's a rich kid. There's a ban on competing under the Russian flag in sports due to state sponsored drugs cheating. Mazespin and his rich backers have got round this by literally paying Hass to paint their car in this design which obviously is nothing at all like a Russian flag *ahem*

All but the three or four top teams (who get the lions share of funding) sell the drive to the driver to raise funds. Many drivers have to get personal sponsorship to pay for it or have rich backers. A sport where the money and power are concentrated at the very top, leaving the others vulnerable, neigh desperate for backing from some often dubious sources. That could never happen in football, could it?

I, like most people, have their favourites and ones I “less prefer” but yeah with Mazepin I would be delighted if he crashed out at the first corner of every race this season. For the reasons you have given.

I just hope this “sh1tness” doesn’t cause a serious accident for an innocent driver.

Let me guess, "they just drive round and round in circles?"

What’s he done today? I’ve not seen it.

His performance at Bahrain was incredible, when he overtook Vettel et al in qualifying then spun it and cost them their times.

You don't finish 5th in F2 if you're ****, but yeah he sounds like a proper knobhead from what I've seen of him so far.

At least Lance Stroll did pretty well last year with his cash rich dad.

Did it surprise you that a thread with F1 in the title was in fact about Formula 1? I can see how that would startle you into this post if you were unexpectedly confronted with having to read about it.

I used to enjoy motor sport and watched a lot back in the day. There used to be an organisation called 'Racing for Brittain' of which i was a member. It was a non-profit org that would have membership fees and sell merchandise and sponsorship. In turn this sponsored upcoming British drivers mainly from Formula 3. If a Driver ever made it to F1, the deal was they would donate back into the org in season 2, basically repay the years of help. One such driver was Johnny Herbert. He stood out in F3 and looked a better driver than Damon Hill at that level. Then it comes down to the best car / team when the F1 choices come along.

From memory of my time watching F1. Andrea de Cesaris, Philippe Alliot, Pierluigi Martini, Luca Badoer & Yuji Ide were all terrible drivers.
Nikita Massivespin is truly horrible though!

Bottas had a mare today. Should be an interesting race tomorrow! Ferrari and McLaren both looking close to the pace.

Red Bull finally with 2 cars in the game which is what they have been after for a few years, lets hope it gives us a interesting one.
Hamilton, well its just routine for him to be outstanding isn't it.

I think he's definitely got a fight on his hands this season. Going to be a close one given Red Bull have closed the gap now.
