So is there automatic promotion again now or do you still have to persuade the money men (sorry governing body) to let you in?
I can see why you might say that! But I love walking (and being allowed to walk) around the ground with all its weird and dilapidated bits. I look at modern Oakwell in comparison. A ground that feels like Stevie Wonder and Albert Speer were on the design team and one that was built when there was a National plasterers strike.
Good. As I say I'm not a League fan so I was still under the impression the top league was by invitation only.
I'm not a fan of Rugby at all but your right money seems to get you places with it and to be honest it all seems very odd especially when you are used to football
And not fit for purpose, never gunna get a new ground by looks of it but they should do it up. I think it could be a decent ground and their history is there.
Ah, Tattersfield home of the Dons. That was dilapidated but I loved my Sunday afternoons there even though we got thrashed more often than not. Watch Another Bloody Sunday made by Yorkshire TV to get the true feel of the place https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...7B1EF6ADC0E139785E297B1&view=detail&FORM=VIRE
I was at that Donny game, theyve done well to keep going because RL just take off in South Yorkshire with big crowd's, shame really.
Watched them all over the place despite my dear departed dad saying it was bad enough watching them at home never mind away. He always asked how many they'd lost by when I arrived home, never what the score was. Sundays walking past Foxs biscuit factory in Batley at the bottom of the hill then up to Mount Pleasant to see another defeat for the Dons after a couple of pints in the clubhouse then standing on the freezing terraces then back to Barnsley on the X33 as I didn't have my own transport then If they were too far away for me to get there used to watch Leeds, Cas or Featherstone with the odd Wakey thrown in or a slog up to Crown Flatt to watch Dewsbury Home games meant 2 buses to Donny via Mexborough then a walk down to the ground, a quick look in the little club shop to see what was on offer then round the other side to the snack bar after a couple of drinks in the small but cosy clubhouse Proper sport and proper rugby Dons are at Skolars at the New River stadium on Friday 16th July so I'll be popping over there to relive old memories Sorry for the nostalgia but this thread brought it all back
