I liked Robins and liked the way we performed with him as manager. I know not everyone did, but I had no problem with him at all and thought he was treated quite shabbily. Thought he was someone who, if we'd stuck with him, would have brought year on year improvement.
What was your position at the club, if you don't mind me asking? Apologies if I've put you in an uncomfortable position and you feel you can't say.
The only Barnsley fans that still think Robins is/was a decent manager are those closet Man United fans, like their 2nd club comfort blanket, he kept Fergie in a job with a Cup goal, but as a manager at Oakwell his crimes against football were much much worse.
Can't be arsed. I noticed a bit of needle in another post. It's Sunday...reight about one thing at least.
We reached 50 points by easter time sat around 15th then got the beach balls out. Thats an improvement from the Davey days. At Oakwell we were a very solid outfit. We only Lost a handful and never got mullered. Heaviest defeat in 10/11 at Home was 0-2.
Still pkayed good football. Of course Coventry have struggled this season, so did we when we came up.
Don’t forget Matty James has our blue print. If I was Robins I would have sat him down and asked him "how do we beat this lot"
I wrote and developed management systems, policies and procedures for H&S, environmental, safeguarding, building maintenance, whistleblowing, staff handbook and several other duties not associated with the playing or training. I cannot expand further because of the NDA signed when I left the club.
Stendel and Robins were excellent managers for Barnsley FC. Comparing anyone with Val is a bit unfair really, what he's achieved is inimaginable
Robins was a good manager at a bad time for the football club. He is a decent bloke & Coventry have backed him in a way we couldn't at the time. By that I mean the iSoft trial & a time when money was tight at Oakwell, hence Keith Hill being appointed, which still created an interesting season in the FA Cup & a thrashing of Leeds.
