A lot of the furore amongst fans would subside if they announced that the first few seasons would be available on a free to air platform such as terrestrial tv and YouTube etc. Could be enough to lose BT sports overnight, and I wouldn’t have much sympathy I’m afraid. I’m also aware that it’s extremely unlikely that the matches will be free.
There is the precursor in darts of all sports. One or the other. My feeling is football still has a heart & soul & this won't work. It would be funny if Boris Johnson saved professional football. As a popularist it ain't out of the question.
So creating a new money league will help solve the debt problems they have, due to spunking away more money than they earn. Thats like those batshit yanks who think the answer to gun crime is more guns.
What they announced (€10bn over the duration of 23 years) equates to.... €14 million for each of the three leagues (English, Italian, Spanish) teams are taken from per year.
Well, obviously they need a ground in the UK because of the fans who have supported them though thick and,,,,,,, oh, hold on a bit,,,
I think that term speaks not only volumes about the contempt they hold us in, but also how little they understand about the game itself.
Yeah, football was for the fans last season for them wasn't it. Wealthy ones of the away variety if memory serves. £42? Agree about Bielsa
Imagine if you are a young player at one of these clubs who has a significant pay rise clause when they play for their country.
Apparently someone put a ‘significant’ bet in last 24 hours on Leicester winning this seasons EPL being quoted 1,000-1
Appears that Klopp and some of his players are dead set against it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56809771
Carra and Nev nailed it but the issue of agents, their fees, transfer fees and wages need to be addressed. This is an opportunity for all fans around Europe to say its a plague on all your houses. All of the top 6 have massive debts, the other 6 from Spain and Italy are in a mess. However they're no different to over half of the championship clubs overpaying for a chance of the dream promotion. Somethings got to give. European competition isn't a competition anymore. Occasionally a Dutch, Portuguese or secondary French team gets into the last 8 or 4. Time to make it a knockout again over 2 legs, give the teams who have to play stupid qualifying rounds who are champions a chance and distribute the wealth evenly.
Sod em!! Let them go if they want to! And when they get bored of the same games every year refuse them back. Besides; Premier league could start afresh with not so much distribution of wealth and the competition will become fairer. And let's face it...Arsenal and Tottenham for starters have hardly achieved much in the past ten years! Chelsea and Man City are only where they are cos they but their way mostly
No concessions whatsoever and it wouldnt hurt to talk about fairer financing for the whole football pyramid while we're at it!
