On Wednesday we play Huddersfield Town. One of many clubs who have won the league title more than you. The last time you won it was 60 years ago. If you hadn't played another league game since, no one would have noticed. Apparently you pride yourself on being a great cup team. A competition you last won 30 years ago for the only time in the last 40 years. No one under the age of 40 even know who you are. And the only reason any of us over 40 have ever heard of you is because trembly rhymes with Wembley and we all liked Ozzy's knees. You're Chaz and Dave's favourite team. A novelty act with mullets. Hoddle and Waddle. Something we laughed at in the 80s then soon forgot. You're about as Top 6 as Black Lace, Joe Dolce and Renee and Renato.
Of all the 'founding fathers' of this greed league, the inclusion of Tottenham and Arsenal are the most perplexing. Of all the teams, recently they have been the ones most reluctant to spend big on transfer fees. Both squads currently don't look up to scratch and once the teams involved start to bring in the big players, I can only see the gap widening. I think both teams fans would be looking forward to the North London derby more than usual, simply to see their team in with a chance of grabbing a win.
Never understood why cockney Chas n Dave are associated with a North London club. Shouldn’t they be West Ham supporters if they are true East End lahndahners?
Yep. I went there a few years ago to watch Spurs play. It was a great day out. Lovely. Nothing like a football match though, the eleven players kicking the ball around was a bit of a side show to be honest. If that’s what these clubs want, which I think it is, essentially a tourist attraction akin to Disney land then great, let them go for it. Genuinely, because that means nothing to me, or any other football fan.
Been there for a Spurs game and two NFL matches. For the football game I missed kick off as I spent 45 minutes having to queue to put my bag in a ‘locker’ for £10. No bags allowed. NFL was great though. Once in the ‘cheap seats’ and once in some posh ones on the halfway line with a free bar at half time.
Don't forget the FA CUP FINAL in the 80's where they were such a big professional outfit, half the teams shirts didn't have the sponsors name on. Shabby. Amateur.
Disagree a wee bit with the tenor of this thread. Spurs always one of my favourite sides, not least because their style of football. Their European final victory against Anderlecht was a classic in the 1980s. By fanbase alone, I would argue they are a bigger club than Chelsea. What's more noticeable about the self-proclaimed big six is that all but one of them have been in at least the second tier of English football in my lifetime, some more than once. The other, Arsenal, were "elected" to the First Division in a backroom deal in 1919, leapfrogging the club who finished higher than they did, namely Barnsley.
Haringey Borough are offering free season tickets next season and are introducing a cheese room , if I were a Spurs fan I’d be going back to their White Hart Lane ground
