I read their forum around the time he became manager full time. They didn't think it was too late for the Play-offs this season, but were certain they'd go up automatic next season if they didn't go up this. They must have meant in league 1.

He may well be a God awful manager but to suggest he was bang average as a player is a bit strong. When he burst on the scene he was virtually unplayable, Euro 2004 was probably the one time for England when we looked capable of winning a tournament because of one player. He certainly peaked early and in his later years was no longer the force he once was but his record is certainly up there with the very best. Now as a manager, if he can take Derby down, he’ll certainly do for me.

Rooney appears to be disliked by the masses , for what reasons I do not understand & to be honest I do not care , however the one thing about him was that on the pitch he was a class act & no matter how much you dislike him, his England record is superb , he scored goals for his country at top level & deserves respect for his feats
