He won't be on 30k a week on his next contract. Kieffer Moore isn't a realistic target, nor is Jacob Brown. In our position we either need to get players on their way up, or catch players who are good players, but are out of form/in a bad situation. Our main focus is players coming up, this would be a rare occasion when we could catch a good player who is in a funk, out of contract and knows the division.
I thought he was outstanding during the league one run in & play offs. He looked to me like he had a bit of everything about him & could go all the way. I’ve not watched him many times since but I’d have the Ashley Fletcher we had back tomorrow. Is he capable of them kind of performances again? Has he got the hunger? I don’t know but I’d certainly be happy to see him here on trial for us to have a look at him.
I also think that if he's still got the desire then there's a quality player in there. Has all the physical attributes and is a very intelligent footballer. I think he would definitely fit our style as well. If the price is right then he's at least worth taking a closer look at in my opinion (though the people in charge of recruitment at the club may have a completely different take on the matter, and if they do, then fair enough!)
It should be easier to attract promising strikers given Barnsley's season and what Dike has been able to do for himself. If you were a young striker with Premier League ambitions you'd be plain daft not to come to Oakwell. So when previously that Croatian(?) striker turned the move down, I bet they wouldn't this time around.
If we get promoted we should really childish and ask him if he wants to sign. Then when says yes tell him to **** off
I wouldn't see him as a regular starter but he is better than some of our attacking options we give game time to. He would strengthen us going forward if we could ship a few away.
Only 25, good level of experience, career record of 1-4 for comparison Adam Armstrong is 1-3 and rated @ £20 million +. I can see why some might say go in for him. Personally just can’t see us significantly breaking our wage structure for him.
I'd take him back on a free personally. Really liked what he offered during his loan stint and although he has failed to kick on and hit the heights I and others expected him to hit he still has good qualities that would make him a good option for us. Let's not forget that fans of other clubs told us Morris was rubbish etc. and he had a bad scoring record but for us he has been ace. In the right set up with the right coach Fletcher has the ability to be a very good striker at this level. Could easily play through the middle for us in our system or down either side.
https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...ombalonga-ashley-fletcher-left-middlesbrough/ From this it sounds like he's got another club lined up. I wonder what wages he'd be on now? Can't imagine any of the league's big payers would be signing him up
I liked him as a player and for whatever reason he hasn't kicked on though this is probably due to poor club choice combined with injuries. I don't know what his data is like but if it's acceptable and he's available within our budget then I think it would be wise signing however the cynic within doubts this would be the case. I still can't believe he never got called Jessica during his stay the first time around
