    Great season, just wish barnard had put the penalty away. Hignett best player in the division by a country mile. Hammered some teams that season

    Thanks for posting for me this was my favourite time of watching us i was abit too young to fully appreciate the Premiership promotion. But this season was enjoyable plenty of goals scored and good memories beating man City at oakwell infront of the 1st packed new away end, hammering blackburn who had won the prem 4 or 5 years before, hammering Birmingham in the play offs good times.

    Ipswich were our bogey side that year beat us home away and in the final. Marcus Stewart always seemed to score against us aswell

    Indeed , selling Hignett wasnt just the 20+ goals but he create 10+ and then others had opportunities as he was so much better than the rest.

    Alas without him , we let in same amount of goals just scored 40 goals less ... ah well.

    I think after we missed out on the promotion it was our last season of parachute payments players had to be sold. Was downhill from there and a long way back.
