What is it with us highlighting our own teams alleged foul play , yes especially as his own fans are highlighting it, whats up with you all, watch it again Morris only had eyes on the ball, he jumped and you have to put your arm up in momentum of jumping, why is it his fault if keeper jumps below him trying to get ball ,the ref was right there was no climbing Morris was just getting his head on ball and others needed to get out of the way or be there before him
A fractured eye socket and I think it's already been highlighted. No excuses for us to stop playing our game for the remaining minutes and unfortunately for ROtherham no excuses for their poor finishing, although Brad did a blinding save near the end.
Wherever I read the scores this morning it sez Barnsley 1 Rotherham 0.... Dunt mention elbows or eyesockets. Thank you and goognight
Certainly not , Morris only has eyes on the ball & any injury to the keeper was not intentional , regarding Morris & his muted celebration , I think he waited for the goal to be confirmed but he played for Rotherham & respect to his ex team mates plus the injury to the keeper had a bearing on his reaction
I may have to apologise for this later but I question Warne's "fractured eye-socket" comment after the game. How would he know at that point, before he'd had an x-ray? Clearly he's had a whack and on the basis that it's around his eye then he could have cracked the bone but I think Warne jumped the gun in order to up-play the incident. It would well be bruising to the soft tissue, that back in the day would have been referred to as a black-eye. If it is indeed a fracture then it'll be confirmed in the coming days but I suspect it won't be and he'll be playing again in a couple of weeks - assuming he has to follow the concussion guidelines.
I don't think there is any doubt that he was going for the ball, and he had no malice in mind, in my opinion. The 'keeper got hurt, which is disappointing and I feel sorry for the lad. But if you look at everything that made up the incident in isolation, I can see why it should and was given. Firstly, the 'keeper was out jumped. This isn't a knock on him, as Morris had a slightly bigger run up and the 'keeper was almost from a standing start, but that doesn't change the fact Morris got his head as high at the 'keeper's outstretched arms. Secondly, he went for the ball. You can see that from any replay of it. He was 100% entitled to got for that ball too, which rules out the "dangerous play" talk(I'm looking at you Stelling, GBH my arse!). I can, however see where Rotherham's anger is coming from. Just a week earlier, they had a player send off for similar, and with the "protection" the 'keepers get these days, 99/100 that would be(rightly or wrongly)ruled out. But what has happened, happed. Rotherham need to move on, as their fate is still in their own hands. If they find their scoring touch, 4 wins from 4 is realistic...
Agree with this. Had it happened against us, I’d be annoyed that it wasn’t given, but also questioning why the keeper didn’t punch the ball and the striker into next week.
The still photo proves nothing other than there was a coming together. The keeper's direction of travel puts him on a collision course with Carlton's elbow. Carlton was much higher as he had a run at it. The keeper's making a jump (of sorts) from pretty much a standing start. It's a coming together without any malice whatsoever. He's got a nasty bump but in some ways it's no different to when two players go to head the ball and there's a clash of heads. It's a contact sport and that was hardly Morgan -v Hume.
Wasn’t trying to prove anything. Just showing something that supports the image shared before of the keeper’s injury.
A wrong decision is a wrong decision. “Win some lose some” doesn’t even things out. As you say we’ve had two wrong decisions to disallow goals. In the Prem with VAR Morris’s goal would have been disallowed.
And with VAR the other 2 would have stood. we can only play with the refereeing that we’re dealt, and like I’ve said previously, most players make more mistakes than referees every game.
Hope their lad is alright. I wouldn't want for the only decent, down-to-earth local club to hate us, in the same way I hate Yoonited because of Hume. We got very bloody lucky yesterday. I'm obviously happy we won, but I'd be furious if that goal had been given against us.
