I think we can find a lot more over rated bands since then!

I do agree they have faded in mediocrity, but find me a band that didn't after 20 years? There aren't many who's 8th album is as good as their 1st of 2nd?

Yes. A bloke reading from a rhyming dictionary over some sh*t cod funk. It was embarrassing when they started and has got exponenetially worse as they entered middle age.

I enjoy a bit of RHCP, Muse and Foo Fighters. Particularly Muse.

Origin of Symmetry is an excellent record, Absolution not far off either. Not as fussed beyond that.

As others have said, RHCP peaked a long time ago. They’ve made some classics though, for me at least. I liked them. Which is all that counts.

Foo Fighters, I don’t own any of their stuff and never seen them live (unlike the other two) but a few of their songs are on my huge Spotify playlist.

Quite liked Californication but generally I think they were ok but nothing special. These, however, were.

Never seen them live, but I did hear from someone I trust they are pretty Ropey live. I loved blood sugar sex magik- at the time it was pretty original on the rock scene and decent cross over. Sparked many imitations like faith no more and extreme so they must have been doing something right. Don’t mind some of their later stuff but it’s a bit safe I guess.
I’ve seen foo fighters 3 times live and I really rate them- not everything has to be worthy chin scratching stuff, they don’t pretend to be anything other then a straight up rock band, I think Grohl is probably the funniest front man with the live banter I’ve ever seen. A great way to escape from the shttyness of life for a few hours imho.
Seen Muse live as well, I think their stage show is so over the top it’s beyond parody and I’m sure that’s their intention. Wouldn’t be bothered about seeing them again but they were ok.

Faith No More, an imitation of RHCP? What?! Kiedis and Patton had a feud but musically their bands are poles apart...

The band members were all brilliant musicians one of the best live bands I ever saw.

RHCP were brilliant until John left, luckily he's back so will see what he brings to it. He's one of the most naturally gifted guitarists of all time for me.

Foos are a bit hit and miss, loved Wasting Light but have gone off the boil a bit since. Im not keen on the radio friendly stuff, but appreciate they have to evolve.

Agree with this, although Josh was criminally under utilised, he’s just as good as Frusciante.
Foo Fighters haven’t done anything worthwhile since Wasting Light back in 2011, which is probably their best album behind The colour & the shape.
But it’s all subjective innit, other bands mentioned The 1975 & Paramore, love them both, seen them all live & all equally as enjoyable.

I agree that they're hugely overrated, but nobody can convince me that Showbiz isn't a great album. I can take or leave everything else they've done, but I think that one's a stone cold classic.

If Oasis had split after the first two albums they would still be considered to be one of the greatest acts of all time. As it is, things started going badly wrong after Morning Glory. Ditto Blur. Leisure and Modern Life is Rubbish are two of the greatest albums of that era. Parklife has some decent tracks on but after that pretty forget it, with the exception of Coffee and TV.

My best hot take is that Pulp have aged far, far better than either of them.
