"Who do you back in the playoffs?" "Barnsley. Barnsley. Barnsley. Any team that plays them has to play them at their own game, and I don't think any of those teams are completely capable of that." Nice to hear some nice words.
I keep telling myself that we've no chance in the playoffs. Then, on the other hand, I can't that image of DK chasing that defender down at Bournemouth and celebrating winning a throw in out of my head....... 13:07 into the highlights. Love this
That’s why I favour us against Bournemouth & Brentford rather than Swansea as I don’t think Bournemouth or Brentford can alter their style of play. Swansea showed they’ve got no issue matching us & making it an ugly game & nullified us in both games
We didn't have DK or Morris in either game against Swansea. I think it'll be a better benchmark where we are when both our new January recruits play in the playoffs Edit - Morris did play 30 minutes in the Home game against Swansea, but my point still stands as it was his first outing for the Reds
I fear Bournemouth the most because they could have been out of sight in both games against us (they technically were at Oakwell but we battled to stay in it). We had a tremendous second half at their place but only after they messed up some golden opportunities and stopped doing all the things that were making life difficult for us. Brentford don't seem to be the team of last year and if Toney isn't firing then the opposition are in with a chance (although they're unbeaten in ten games now). Swansea will be a war of attrition whoever plays them.
Not sure you can have anyone as favourites when only 4 points separate the 4 teams, and 3 of them are on equal points. My biggest worry over the play offs is that all three have beaten us at Oakwell, and we have a 9 day gap between the Norwich game and the first leg, which would be at home as things stand. Would prefer it to be midweek immediately after the last game.
For me, all the other three clubs are capable of beating us, but we're just as capable of beating them. It's barmy to write off any of these teams. However, we have nothing to fear, either. For all the positives that can be put forward for the opposition, I feel we can be just as positive about our team. I accept I can be accused of wearing rose tinted specs. I neither care nor will I apologise for it. Bring 'em on. I back Valerien Ismael and our totally committed players 100%.
No worries here. We're in the mix on merit, we're more than capable of beating anyone, but we'll need to be really firing on all cylinders.
Agree mate. I've just watched the Bournemouth highlights again (both games) and the difference is staggering between the two games. DK was something else when he came on in the away game. I'm sure no-one fancies playing against DK. Bring on anyone, like you say, they can beat us but we can beat them. In Val we trust
I'm way more nervous about a two-legged semi-final than I am about a one-off game. I fancy us to beat any of the 3 at Wembley but I am totally unsure about who I want in the semi-final.
Absolutely - bring em on. I've already bought my premiership shirt badges. If we can't beat 'the likes of Bournemouth, Brentford and Swansea' we should pack up.
Good point about Bournemouth been out of sight but I do think we were reckless in the home game & should’ve scored a few ourselves. In the away game we looked by far the better side when Morris & Styles came on. I suppose there’s pros & cons for whoever we get. There’s not a lot in any of us
