Usual football player cliche replies but he always talks well.

We got a few honourable mentions though.

    Very fond of us
    Be fantastic to face us
    We've been absolutely brilliant
    Fantastic this season

Thoroughly nice blowk. One thing I have to admire Conor for is that he could have spent the season warming PL benches but instead he wanted to drop down a division to actually play regular football.

I wonder if the demi-God will talk about walking on water since he left us and all the worshippers he has.

Yeah, he was a good player but I don't get why he gets so much adoration from our fans?

He’s not getting much love from Swansea fans. He’s been poor for the past month by the sounds of it.

Me neither. If he'd have left at the end of the season fair enough but he went for the money and the rest of the team and our season fell apart afterwards.

For me he's one of a select few of players who move on who I actually like.

What never seems to get mentioned is that 'teams like Barnsley' have to sell their star assets to generate money so we can try and compete in the division and enable us to operate within FFP.

I get that its a juggling act and sometimes it goes wrong for different reasons. Maybe a Jan move in Conors case was more beneficial to the club and player? Maybe, maybe not?!? We'll never know I suppose.

If left a bad taste for me because it was obvious that the rest of our big names wanted out once he left.

I completely agree. Was the catalyst for our collapse. Had he gone to a club in the Premier League then fair enough, but he left a team chasing promotion for one struggling in lower mid table, just because they were willing to quadruple his wages with monopoly money.

He’s taking a bit of stick in this thread is Conor.

I loved him. He was superb for us and I’d take him back in a heartbeat.

I would also disagree that he was the catalyst for our players moving on.

Well, I wouldn't call him a Demi-God, but of players in the last 10 years he is up there with Hammill as my favourite. He absolutely worked his socks off at Barnsley. He arrived as a vaguely decent player, and worked on his game, became a fabulous midfielder, and earned himself a move to a bigger club, and ultimately the Premier League. He deserved it. He has always been respectful to us as a club, and always has time for us as fans. He's been to watch games, to support the Reds, and has hinted he might come back at some stage in a coaching capacity. In a world of fickle, sleazy footballers, he strikes me as a decent guy who gave his all for the club. He was entitled to chase his dream of being a Premier League Player/ International player. We obviously couldn't compete with what Villa could offer.

If you want to have a go at former players, have a look no further than Deon Burton. Hourihane isn't a Demi-God, but he's not the money grabbing, team disintegrating player you make out either.

But he made the correct decision. Became within months a PL player and regular international. I'm sure the club would have made a decent return on the deal because of the move (if they had the sense at that time to negotiate it).

What I never understand regarding some fans is that it works all ways round. 2 of our star players this season Styles and Brittain for example left Bury and MK. No doubt at least doubling or trebling their wages to come to us. Like probably Conor did when we signed him from Plymouth. It's just where you are as a club in the food chain. It really is that simple. We buy them...... we lose them. Some go downwards or sideways and a small few go upwards.

If somebody quadruples my wages, I’d be off too. Anyone who says they wouldn't is kidding themselves.

He was one of my favourite players too. Great left foot and scored some cracking goals.

Laughing at the implication that Tarn to Villa is a backwards, unambitious move.

As others have said, it’s not worship. It’s us remembering him fondly as a player and him remembering us fondly as a club. We’ve had some utter dross play for us through the years and some utter knobs too. Which is why Conor stands out.

Claiming people 'worship' him is puerile ******, in my opinion. For me, he's one of my favourite all-time players and gets selected in my All Time Favourites Barnsley XI. But, 'worship'? Good grief!
