I'm bored. The wife is on nights and the Southampton/Leicester game is as boring as sin. I'm drinking a little Camden Pale Ale which isn't a bad drop. Anything that anyone wants to vent about? The weather is rhubarb at the minute. Long range forecast is cold for the next 2 weeks. Where's my summer. Paul Hudson show yourself.
I'll start. Why, when there is a crossing point (zebra crossing, traffic light or just a half way island) within 100 yards do people instead cross over the road in a random place? Especially when they are walking in that direction anyway and get to it within 10 steps once they have crossed the road the dangerous way. Extra annoyance when they are a jogger or someone walking their dog, the whole point of them being out is for exercise so the extra steps would be beneficial anyway. It especially annoys me as in many cases it will have taken a lot of accidents and potentially deaths to get that crossing point installed in the first place. I've taken to slowing down as I approach them and mouthing 'use the crossing' whilst pointing at it now.
Why is it allowed to park anywhere, blocking drives, diagonally across an entire road, blocking pavements, directly opposite another parked vehicle, on the zig-zag lines at zebra crossings, so close to another vehicle that it can't move and its doors won't open, on grass verges, but only when fetching fish and chips?
Why has my football club got so good now that we now have to wait 3 weeks for another meaningful game of football? Selfish gets!
I know its Saturday now BUT, why do youths (particularly") insist on starting sentence, "Its like" when it isn't, "like" at all, it is? PLUS why ,youths also, insist on starting an explanation with, "Basically", when it is anything but basic. Yes I do need to get out more.
I occasionally ride on the pavement, for example up a hill on a narrow but busy road where I'd hold up traffic if I stayed on the road. I then find it very difficult to get back on the road because the drivers who I had just helped won't let me in, in some cases deliberately accelerating to close the gap I was just about to get into. They are the real b'stards.
Supermarket self serve... Scan, bag. Scan, bag. Scan, bag. Scan, bag. etc. Pay. Put bags in trolley. Leave. It's not difficult, is it? Yet somehow, I always get stuck behind someone who wants to scan every item, pile it all up like a model of Mount Everest in the bagging area, pay for it, and then start bagging it all up - IN SLOW MOTION - while I stand there getting visibly older by the minute. This happened to me again last night. I wish I'd seen this thread sooner, I don't really need to rant now, but there you go. Have it anyway.
I got behind one of those people tge other week, plus they kept disappearing to get a carrier bag from somewhere, coming back to put 3 items in carrier, then disappearing again. On the forth time they disappeared, I joined the queue for the aisle at the other side. Then the cheeky b*stard had the audacity to shout at me from over the aisle "I've seen it all now, I really have. Can't you give me 2 minutes to bag my shopping up?" I was that gobsmacked I didn't know what to say, but they'd taken 10 minutes of my life away already and I just wanted to go home
If you got off and walked up the hill Brush you would be showing due respect to pedestrians and and also would not be breaking the law. Win Win
I like them if there's just me there. Not so good when it's a queue. Or if you get one where the conveyor belt isn't working or the scanner is on a go slow.
I get pissed off when in some shops when the machine goes “Place your bag in the bagging area” and then when you do it goes, “Unidentified item in bagging area.” NO THERE ISN'T. IT’S A BAG. If yer dealing with a machine that can’t identify a bag it needs a good kicking. Gave it one once.
I don't ride on pavements when there are pedestrians about unless it's a shared use one. I always show respect and give way to pedestrians wherever they are and that goes for cycling and driving.
Why aren’t we allowed to go to the match when community transmission is tiny, SAGE scientists say outdoor transmission hardly ever happens and the vulnerable have been vaccinated?
When your packing your shopping, and the till detects your bag but not as a bag, thinks your trying to pinch something so you have to scan and bag it later, but you feel someone behind you in the queue breathing down your neck because you're going too slow.
I am glad to hear that Brush but I think there is modern breed of bike rider out there who doesn't understand that it's illegal to ride on the pavement unles signs state otherwise. I live on a hill and the adjacent narrow lane used to be 2 way with a dropped kerb so that cars/ bikes could mount the only pavement to pass each other. It's now one way uphill but some bike riders think it's ok to ride downhill on the narrow pavement. Apologies for the term B'stards but it was meant to be a Friday night rant so I put it in for effect. Methinks I touched a nerve.
The actions of some inconsiderate people on bikes shouldn't be used as an excuse to persecute all of them I often come into conflict with drivers who have a Clarksonesque view of cyclists and go out of their way to "punish" them with fast and close passes. Many also take risks by overtaking when approaching hazards such as blind bends, blind hills and parked cars. In all of these situations, the natural reaction of the driver when a vehicle suddenly appears coming the other way is to swerve left - into the cyclist. I value my life, these drivers don't. Thankfully the majority of drivers act responsibly and take care when interacting with cyclists, the others are b'stards. .
