Mowatt already knows who he's playing for next season and it's not us. Chaplin isn't anywhere near Championship standard and, as nice a bloke as he is, shouldn't be in the squad. Without being first choice penalty taker, Woodrow is a 5 goal a season striker and that's being generous. Styles has totally gone off the boil, sometimes I forget he's even on the pitch. For some reason, the press is none existent, are we knackered? But, we're in the playoffs and we're there on merit; I still think we're going up
I think Mowatt's best chance of playing Premier League football is with us, so I definitely don't think he's downed tools
We seem to have lost our way at the minute. No pressing triggers, as a team way off our high press tempo. The team have to find their focus again solid performance next week will bring confidence, a hammering wont be good
I honestly don't think the press works against teams that go long. In reality, what are you trying to press? My view is that our lack of quality in certain areas, and an apparent inability to string two passes together, is costing us against teams who set up to mimic our approach. Having said that, Chaplin takes that chance today and perhaps it looks a different game.
Mowatt is Mr consistent. Who he will or won't be playing for hasn't affected him this game or any other.
I agree our ability to pass the ball to a red shirt is an issue. Both Callum's need to regain their form. Brittain not close to the quality he showed when he first came. Is that him or what he is being asked to do? At least we have the time go put it right. We couldn't ask for a better test next week
I've said for ages that Chaplin is a nice kid but nowhere near good enough. Some of the performances recently have been extremely poor. Those sides that have tried to match us have fared much better whereas Huddersfield who tried to play football were well beaten by us. Think we will fare better against Brentford but if we don't up our performances based on what we've done recently then we may as well not turn up.
I skipped today, in order to recharge my batteries for the final game and then the play-offs. If I needed a break, and I'm only sat watching, then I'm pretty sure the players are ready for one too. Fingers crossed, Big Val will stoke things up again for the big push.
I would be tempted to just play reserves next week - keep the main squad together and formulate a game plan with them to beat Brentford - we had the plan against Chelsea and should have won that game so I am sure we can come up with something special against Brentford - we are off the boil atm but in one off games we have shown we can do it - I still fancy us to come through
My worry is that the goals have dried up. We have now played over 180 minutes without scoring. I think, as Mat Bailey and his side kick said in commentary, teams are adopting our style of play and are nullifying our threat. This coupled with teams stopping our wing back from crossing the ball to our big strikers. It is easy to see why Woodrow is on a barren run he is not getting any pull backs from the by-line. The plus side is that all our remaining games are against teams who play it on the deck, unless they follow the example of our recent opponents and mimic our style. Somehow I do not think any of them will go that way which gives us a chance. You have got to be in it to win it and we are in it. In Val we trust. CORY
Agree with chaplin he isn't good enough but I have thought that for a long time not just last few games. Should have scored 1st half nice lad fast runner not sure what else he brings.
