Just in recent times for games I was at: 2019 at Bristol for weekend 2016 at Wigan 2013 at Huddersfield followed by 30th at races - long day! 2009(?) at Plymouth for weekend 2007 at WBA. Lost 7-0 them singing we will never play you again. Until 2007/08 as it happened.
Of course last time we played the last home game of the season vs Norwich it was our last home game in the Championship for 4 years. Let's hope its the same this time out.
I think it was after the Boro game when we popped in the Social Club and they had a "comedian " on.. He basically took the piss out of our plight for about five minutes; after which he was spoken to, and then sort of limped away
Along those lines, I have a friend who is a writer, actor and street performer. One August Bank Holiday Sunday, he was performing in Portsmouth. He took to to the stage in his Barnsley shirt. It was the day after we'd beaten Pompey 6-0. He didn't really help himself, either, when he raised six fingers in the air!,
Couple of days spring to mind. Last game of 1994/95 season. Away at Southend - lost 3-1 - but great weather, everyone got sunburnt, Southend fans called us Lobsters as we all turned pink in the sun. Gerry Taggart's last game for us I think - threw his boots into the crowd at the end. Away at Walsall - 1988/89 - won 3-1. Think Andy Saville played for them. Reds Fans in good voice on the train back to New Street - until we got near to Villa Park. Villa had played a 1-1 draw with Coventry. Ended up with four lots of fans on one train. The train was a tad boisterous - all good natured but just with the slight tension that it may all kick off at any time.
We beat Bournemouth at om 3-0 last match, although I had been a Reds fan, that was the match that hooked me. Oakwell, tarn, me, belonging & Glavin. I was hooked. Thiz no escape Att about 10'500ish
I was at Oakwell for the final game of the 1961-2 season, when we played Torquay. We needed to win the match to avoid relegation to Division 4. Torquay needed a draw to avoid the same fate. We went 1-0 up, but Torquay scored twice to lead 2-1, so things were looking bleak. However, two goals from the talented 35 year old Bert Tindill helped us to a 4-2 victory, which sent Torquay down. This was Tindill's last game for us. He had announced his imminent retirement just before the match. His delighted teammates carried him off the pitch at the end of the game. Poor Bert died of a heart attack at the age of 46.
2005-06 Season away at Walsall. Everyone singing "Let's all have a Disco" as we powered our way into the play-offs.
Was at the Brom game but I can’t recall them singing well never play you again tbh . It was mostly good bantered as I seem to recall as they were promoted Can remember them laughing and clapping us as we sang can you score a goal for us
Speaking of final day memories: may I wish Dorbeh all the very worst on their own final day tomorrow, after their joy at sending us down in 2018. A Rotherham win, plus a 99th-minute equaliser for someone at Derby - 'appy days.
