Play the CL final at a different ground then - Villa Park seems a poor choice though - the New Spurs ground would seem perfect since Spurs played at Wembley for a season or so
Bit harsh to move a game for two teams who wanted to move into the ESL. Should just make em go and play in Turkey or Portugal or something instead. Sod em.
Or old Trafford. Or just stick to where the final was planned. Tough luck but most of their fans watch on telly anyway, wasn't that the ESL argument!?
I said this the other day that there’s already the playoff final so they can have another day or somewhere else. Villa Park seems a weird choice too.
The other issue with moving it here is our quarantine restrictions for sponsors and broadcasters etc coming to the UK to cover the game. The better suggestion seems to be Portugal. It looks like a typical political gesture without thinking through the practicality of it.
Think it might suit us not to play at Wembley. Prefer a tight small ground if we have to play Brentford or Bournemouth
EFL can FC off. The Championship Playoff Final shouldn't be moved. If Both Chelsea and Man City are allowed to play in England they can go to Villa Park. Two sides willing to Bob off to join a European Super League and FC the rest disgraceful.
Seriously, play it at a small ground. It’s not like anyone can sell out Wembley. & what a great comeback gesture at the ESL.
Isn't the Principalty Stadium in Cardiff the obvious choice for the Champions League Final? Neutral ground/city (neither Manchester or London). Used to holding big events. No covid related travel restrictions. No clashing events. No brainer!
Harsh to move matches just to fit in one that wasn't planned for. That said if the play off final got moved to Villa Park it would be far closer to reach for most of our fans that got to go.
New Spurs stadium is miles better for supporters than Wembley. Best stadium I've ever been to, amazing facilities both pre and post game. Been to NFL and its outstanding.
Of course you wouldn’t. It would mean devaluing your Skysports subscription & would involve, erm,, exercise..
Would the numbers allowed in be the same. Seems a bit tight, EFL teams don't have many chances to play at Wembley after all.
