Obviously a huge occasion for us and for Swansea but is it the biggest game since Ipswich in 2000? We've had some very big games over the last 20 years.

Hard to say but I would say the Brentford away game last season was a bigger game.
This game I cant see as being as big as its a totally unexpected and unplanned for free hit - if we get through it to Wembley and on to the Premisership is a bonus and not one the club had planned for so soon, if we fail no biggie we consolidate and make another attempt next season but really all of us if offered and I think the board included would have been happy with Lutons season this year. I dont think there is any real pressure on us and if we lose its sad but not devastating for the club

I would say if we reach the final it's the biggest game in our history. Getting to play in the best league in the world and the riches that come with it. Even if we came straight back down it should set us up for years to come with having a higher profile around the world, ground improvements and finding it easier to attract players.

Huge. I’ll be devastated if we don’t win. Chances like this have come up very rarely in our 130 year history. Not likely to come up again for a long time, so we should take the opportunity. BELIEVE.

The pressure isn't big. But the opportunity is bigger even than League One Sheffield Wednesday.

Be a brave person to bet against us.

I kind of understand your reasoning FR, but I hope that by suggesting it's a "free hit" that anyone at the club is underestimating or undervaluing the playoffs games. Because, we're here on merit and deserve our chance at a shot at getting to the Premier League. There is a chance that, should we make it to the final, we could play Brentford again. Last season, it was our chance to stay in the Championship, to bring in £6 Million in TV revenue. This time, it could be for £200 Million plus and set us up for many a year. You'd have to say that these games are far more important that last season.

These three games are the biggest in our history in my opinion.

With the way our club is run, just one season in the Premier League sets us up for years to come.

I can see why some don't see it that way, as its been completely unexpected that we'd make it this far, so it's seen as a free hit. But just imagine if we actually do win them.

They are huge games but surely the FA Cup win in 1912 has to be recognised as our biggest game ever?

And then the home game against Bradford to get us into the Premier league for the first time in our history.

First I dont think anyone is claiming we are not here on merit and we definitely deserve our chance. I am also sure that everyone is taking these very seriously and there will be a belief we can do it. Why wouldnt there be we have come this far and shouldn't fear anyone.
I dont agree on the importance though - had we gone down last season we would have lost a lot more of the squad - we wouldnt have been sigining the likes of Helik Morris and Dike and would have been right back were we started under the current owners. Absolutely no guarantees we would have come straight back up
This time we are ahead of the plan - even if we dont go up we are still on track for the long term planning. Our owners will not see this as just a once in a lifetime chance and will be planning to have another go next season with a few minor changes - no reason why we cant be up there again.
Dont get me wrong I very much want us to win the next games and see us in the Premiership again but failure isn't as catastropic as it was against Ipswich. I dont think its as bad as going down last season would have been or had we gone down to the 4th division but for the Rakin goal

    Really?

Yeah, it's nice we can say that we won it, but it's just a cup game, nothing really changes to fabric of the club if we win it or lose it. In my book there are loads of games which mean more and had more riding on them. Play off games, relegation survival games and auto promotion clinching games for example.

I thought Spuggy’s question was whether it was the biggest game since 2000, not ever? I’d agree with Farnham Red that the Wycombe game was more important. If we get to the Final this year, maybe that game is bigger. Don’t forget the FAC Semi-final though.

I don't get how anyone can say any domestic cup game is a big game, they're cool'n'all but they don't affect the fortunes of the club in any major way aside from a bit of media attention in the later rounds and a meagre injection of cash (even if you win the FA cup it's only about £3m). In the grand scheme of things they mean nothing to the long term survival/progression of the club.

I don’t disagree, in the grand scheme of things, but some people might.

I'd look at this in two ways, which slightly contradict to be fair.

Are these three games the most significant from the aspect of financial reward? Absolutely, without doubt, hands down, potentially more lucrative than any other 3 games we've played in the history of our club ever.

Are these games existentially important in terms of our future? No.

So I think I lean on the side of the free hit. Once you get there, to the playoffs, you don't want to lose. The rewards are huge and if you get really close, the aftershock for some clubs causes a few problems. But we'd still be a championship club if we lost out, with a base of players with elevated values that if managed properly allows us to shape a more balanced squad than what we have now.

Now we are there we have to make the most of it.
Val and his team have to instil the mental attitude of "no regrets" in the players. They must not come out with an "if only" regret. It may be their once in a lifetime moment.
However if we fail to progress then don't worry. We achieved far more than was expected and I for one will never blame them. After last season this one has been a breath of fresh air even though recently we have choked a bit.
Saturday's performance hopefully will have cleared the fog a bit.
