Man U have changed 10 players (and given 2 Premier League debuts) in a competitive Premier League game which had they won would have made it easier for Liverpool to catch Leicester in the race for Champions League football. If Cardiff had done this against Rotherham would the Massive and WRDC been up in arms?
Considering they're playing four games in eight days, and a UEFA Cup Final on the horizon, I'm not sure what else they were meant to do. It's only three more players than Pep changed for City the other day.
I get your point, but doubt there'll be many of this team which feature against Liverpool in their next game. In the spirit of competitiveness iIthink Fulham should have really been the one they rested everyone in.
Greenwood - Euros Telles - £20 million Bailly - £30 million WIlliams - massive future and hot prospect Van de Beek - £40 million? Diallo - £35 million Matic - Premier League winner De Gea - arguably the world's best goalkeeper until the last 18 months I know what you mean but I think their run of games before tonight meant that it was this game that people needed to be left out for.
It's a fair point, but they also play Liverpool in a couple of days too. No doubt their fans would much rather they beat Liverpool, than Leicester.
That's kind of my point. Prioritising one game over the other in the same competition seems a bit unfair, especially when Leicester and Liverpool are both challenging for 4th place. I don't care either way, but if they'd have fielded a weakened team against a club fighting for survival the other teams at the bottom would likely have found it unfair.
He said he would do it and I don't blame him. Something had to give and he picked this game as it the one stuck between a playing Sunday and Thursday. Also no self respecting Man Utd boss would choose to do it agaisnt Liverpool.
I get what you're saying. If United were playing Leicester today, and then a bottom half club on Thursday, effectively 'resting' players to give Leicester the advantage, then I'd agree, but I'd hazard a guess they're resting players because beating Liverpool means a lot more to them than Leicester. Leicester have a tough run-in anyway. Liverpool will still make the top four, if they've anything about them.
Yeh but that will always be a argument, end of season games as to be what the club feels best.we were safe wi probably 8 games to go, theres probably some code where teams should play there best sides but if we wouldn't av had a play off chance and no chance of regulation you av to gi kids a chance especially against sides that are fighting for summat else.although we must admit man u av thought get lost pool.
Makes sense to me. They played sunday. Gives the 1st choice players a decent break between games. None of the other permutations actually would have made sense. Sunday/thursday/tuesday.
If it lessens Liverpool’s chances of finishing higher up the league I would have let them put the under tens out.
Definitely, which means I have the right to be joyous when it negatively affects a team I don’t like.
That victim mentality will be strong in Liverpool if they lose on Thursday - which would be out of character for their fans.
