I’d stopped renewing by 2013, as I couldn’t get to every game due to work. I was more of an away days supporter by the time I took up the job offer. Which is the only thing I miss really. Going around the country with mates, having good food and beer and a laugh with your pals.

But I felt like once I took the job, I was no longer a fan. And for whatever reason, having a season ticket makes me feel like I’m still supporting my club. That I work for. It’s weird, I know.

In many countries in the world a photo ID is mandatory. In Russia people have an internal passport for domestic travel, and a regular one for international travel. My Russian friends are often surprised when I tell them that we actually have no compulsory photo ID in the UK, purely from the practical point of view.

"What happens if you don't drive or travel abroad, and you need photo ID?"
"I don't think such people exist any more."

Have you seriously never considered going anywhere? Don't get me wrong, Britain is absolutely awesome and there's loads to keep you entertained in such a small place, but there's a lot to see out there! Not passing judgement by the way, just surprised!

I’ve not entered the ballot because sadly I have to go to flipping Anglesey (no choice) - gutted but it ever so slightly increases everyone else’s chances

Approx 3.5 million adults don’t have any form of photo ID in the UK, and if Boris Johnson gets his way they won’t be able to vote soon. It’s a chilling sign of totalitarianism.

Simple answer to the problem scrap the ballot and set anybody who wants to go to the match on as YTBFC’s assistant. Sorted!

Yep, and there was some Tory gob5hite MP on radio 4's PM yesterday "refusing to see it" simply because she had photo id. My dad no longer has a driving licence or a passport.

Yeah it will be sad if Boris is allowed to turn us in to a show us your papers kind of country, eroding privacy bit by bit. I get why our club are asking for ID so someone with a membership who doesn't want to go doesn't enter, get tickets and pass them on to someone who isn't a member. I do see people being turned away at the ground though either because they haven't read the instructions properly or they assume wrongly it's only adults who need photo proof as I don't think young kids (primary school age) who get a ticket for Oakwell will have photo ID.

They arent allowed in unaccompanied anyway - I cant see the club turning away a 10 year old accompanied by an adult with a photoid for his/her own ticket who is happy to vouch the child is who it says on the ticket

The FAQ doesn't mention making exceptions though. The rules are clear as day that all fans need photo ID.

I know this is a bit anal but could we be told beforehand (now the ballot is closed) how many people have applied?
