Wouldn't wish for any of their players over ours!

It's not disrespectful. It's a discussion forum. Mowatt is a fine player for us and I'm delighted to have him as captain. But if Messi had played for us in the past and I said I'd rather have Mowatt in the side I'd be pretty daft.
Conor, in my view, is the best captain we've had in my 55 years following. He was absolutely steely in his focus. I'd love him and Mowatt lining up together in central midfield but Conor would get my vote if I had to pick one.

Alex. Conor doesn’t play for us. I’m assuming you’re talking about Barnsley..

Connor everyday of the week. I think they'll be a lot less sentiment when he's playing for someone else next season.

This for me, why would anyone want a diffrent player to lead us out monday Alex has been great all season. Conor was good for us but he has been and gone.

I hope he doesn't read this forum. It's a bit of a kick in teeth.

I'd rather craig hignett in his prime barnsley days than conor, failing that Neil redfern but on current form I'm glad mowatt will be leading us out.

Conor was good for us scored a great goal against leeds before he went aswell stuff of dreams but the best captain in 55 years... nah

Mowatt - had a bigger impact on the club than Conor in my opinion. Both key players for us no doubt, but Alex only a step below Redders.

Connor by a distance. I like Mowatt and he's raised his game significantly this season. But if for nothing else, Hourihanes unbelievable set pieces. he got obscene numbers of assists in his half season before going to Villa and the shot on him is better than Mowatt.

I don't know how Connor is now, if he's losing mobility or if he suits Swansea, but if he's anywhere near his levels in his half season at Championship, I'd have him in our midfield in a heartbeat.

I’ll go for Alex. His contribution the last three years has been immense. Connor was a good player for us and remains a good player.

This feels like telling your wife/husband that your previous spouse was much better. i’ll try that tonight and see what reaction I get.

    Abit embarrassing really

Who would you rather be upfront sam winnall or woodrow?
Who would you rather be wing back james bree or callum Britain?
Who would you rather be manager hecky or val?

Players change managers change this team have been the best barnsley team for 21 years fair play to them.

It's a bit like when people go on about the 81/82 team or 99/00 being better than the 96/97 team. The fact is they weren't as the 96/97 team is the only one that got promoted to the top flight.

    Best captain in my time?

Neil Redfearn, closely followed by Mick McCarthy. Both sweat blood for the club and were natural leaders.

Conor Hourihane was and probably still is a fantastic player.

I want nobody but Alex Mowatt leading the team out in the next two, hopefully three games. He’s the captain, the fulcrum, a massive part of what we have done so well all year.

As fond as my memories are, I hope Conor Hourihane has an absolute stinker. He can pop one in the top corner in the 89th minute at the Liberty a week on Saturday so long as we’re 3 or 4-0 up on aggregate if he must.

I thought he was great for us. He hasn’t replicated the same at Villa from what I understand. Many don’t after they leave. But here he was outstanding for a decent run of time. His last game was legendary.

But in terms of all time best players, he doesn’t rank above Hignett or Redfearn in my eyes.

We also shouldn’t look back. In the here and now, Alex Mowatt is key to everything we are about.

So you think it's a positive question going into the playoffs. As one said, summat, that I'm sure. Mowatt wouldn't want to read. Imo of course.
    Ward or Dike
    Davies or Collins
    Winnall or Woodrow.
Disrespectful. Going into to the game.
It's not a . Who's the best player ever for Barnsley type of question.
Connor is not our player and I hope he has the biggest stinker ever to ram it down peoples throats.
