Can't believe i'm asking you all to predict the score of a championship play off game, but here we are. This is Swansea City's 6th play-off campaign, the third at this level, and they've only ever been promoted through the play-offs once (10/11 to the Premier League). Their semi-finals record reads like this: Played 10, Won 5, drawn 3, lost 2, qualified for the final 3 times. They've never won or lost both legs of the play-offs. Of course, our play-off semi record reads like this: Played 6, Won 4, drawn 0, lost 2, qualified for the final all three times. We won both legs of our last play-off campaign in 2016. In terms of form coming into the game, Swansea have won 2 of their last 6 away games. These were to Sheffield Wednesday, and a Millwall side already on the beach. They were defeated 3 times in that time too, without scoring. Overall, they have just 3 wins in their last 11 matches (Derby County being the other side they've beaten in the last 11), and 6 defeats. They are miles behind us in the form table over 5, 10, 15 and 20 games. Swansea aren't the same side that defeated us twice in the space of a month. At the time of that 2nd victory in January, they'd only conceded 13 goals all season. And whilst they ended the season with the 3rd best defensive record in the division (behind Norwich and Watford), they have shipped twice as many goals since last playing us. We aren't the same side either. Particlarly in the away fixture, we looked incredibly lacking in front of goal. Daryl Dike was yet to sign for us, and Carlton Morris was still finding his feet (in the home fixture). In the 22 league games since we last faced Swansea, Dike and Morris have scored more than half of our 31 goals. We appear to be tighter at the back too, only conceding 20 goals in 22 games. And of course, our head to head play off record reads as, played 1, won 1 (on penalties). We do need to remember that we haven't beaten Swansea (over 90 minutes) since 1983, and we haven't beaten them away since 1974. We've broken many hoodoo's during the lockdown though, so what's 1 more? All this being considered, I fancy us to win the first leg, and then try and keep it tight in Swansea. I'm going for 2-0, with Helik and Dike on the scoresheet. COME ON YOU REDS!!!
Think you mean we have qualified for the finals 3 times winning twice. Not yet failed to make final after getting to play offs.
0-0 with us winning 1-0 at theirs...meeting Brentford in the final in which we will win 3-1 that's my prediction
1 goal in it for me. I’m expecting a very cagey affair and in all honesty, not great football. So with my positive hat on, 1-0 reds
