When they die, yes. Which is precisely what I'm trying to avoid. But I understand not everyone necessarily would for their nearest and dearest in the same situation.
Think I'd agree in a full stadium (in principle that is given the advice to wear one indoors). I sit on a weekly local authority Covid Outbreak Management Board and tbf out Director of Public Health is relaxed about outdoor events and venues as the risk of transmission is so low. There's more concern about what goes with things like sporting events, eg public transport, indoor hospitality venues
Indoors has obviously had more impact, and yes, public transport etc in very tightly confined spaces are likely to hold any virus particles as they accumulate and build. Wembley is now a very steep sided stadium and it gets very hot in there and there can often be very little air. I'm not sure how particles would behave in that environment. Obviously somebody would have to have it first, and given LTF tests are very dubious, I don't think that would give me any comfort either.
Blindingly obvious that 20,000 distributed around the whole stadium would be safer than 20,000 in 50% of the stadium, however, it would also increase the cost of the match with extra stewards, cleaners, catering costs etc. Anyone who thinks that the government led response to the pandemic is to primarily save lives and cut transmissions might not have been paying attention.
It's been a week, can't find anything so far to suggest it had an impact. But interesting to keep checking.
Texas has been open for business and events for a long time. Obviously this was a huge crowd but other significant crowds have taken place. All the important numbers continue to track backwards, whilst the vaccine numbers continue to move forward.
I think that's the decision and risk people need to weigh up. To add, I also completely understand in your situation why you wouldn't want to be in that environment or take that risk. Hope they find a vacinne solution for your partner's condition. I had my first jab today. Moderna with being under 40, so far no reaction but fingers crossed
Interesting also that they haven’t left a clear aisle between occupied aisles like the club are doing on Monday. Rules or the club/FA Wembley interpretation of the rules?
Good the quicker we get rid of these masks the better. A dirty piece of cloth that holds bacteria your mouth and nose is trying to exit your body is disgusting
Thanks for saying that, very much appreciated because frankly, a good deal of the time I don't get the impression people do understand.
I think they'll also use it as a test event for the Euros, the data would be less useful if everyone was dispersed in the stadium. That information is pretty well understood.
I think everyone needs to try and be as empathetic as possible. Everyone's circumstance is different, and if we can respect that and put ourselves in others shoes then we'll all be better placed to support each other. Take care mate
