In all honesty, I think Stendel was out of his depth in the championship. Don't get me wrong, I loved Stendel, we played some awesome stuff in league 1 and I was disappointed when it all went sour. But let's not paint him to be something he's not.
The best manager in world football would have struggled with 13 summer signings all under 23 year. He was never given a fair chance. Success would have always taken time and it was inevitable those first few months were gonna be painful
I think Daniel Stendel IS special and did wonders in turning round our club, only to have all his good work ripped up. However, I love Valerien Ismael and I love him more than anyone else. Also, I'm quite happy to fight anyone who is daft enough to challenge me!
The club seems in a better position all round since Conway is nowhere to be seen. Long may it last but I doubt it.
My own suspicion is Conway uses the media and comments like these as a strategy as opposed to actually taking action. In terms of DS, it could be as simple as GG has assured he will only deal with him and not the owners. I wish DS no I’ll feeling and would have him back again if there was an opportunity.
My take is that when he had the squad expected to do well he did well, when he didn't he didn't. In terms of making the sum greater than the parts Ismael has been far more impressive.
I think he was and so was the team because they on the whole were inexperienced. I think he would have done much better with Sol ( or equivalent ) in at the start and I think he would have kept us up but of course we'll never know.
I must've imagined all those Barnsley fans insisting the squad of players relegated from the Championship (minus the goals of McBurnie) would struggle against relegation again, as they had no fight or ability. Not only that, but only an experienced Division 1 manager would be capable of securing promotion, certainly no unknown foreigner was capable. These sort of comments usually finished with the word FACT.
What was his strategy? If it was to paint himself as a massive bell then I must congratulate him as it worked a treat.
I think he was hung out to dry to be honest, had his 2 center halves sold his goalkeeper went and his top scorer sold 5 days before the window closed. He tried to play his style of football it didn't work.
Many thought that squad would struggle that he inherited people thought brad potts was *****, pinnock was relatively unknown because he had been over looked, davies got pelters from our fans season before, mowatt had been shipped out to Oxford. He re grouped the whole squad gave them confidence and got them playing his attacking style. Its the 1st time in our history we had bounced back after relegation The previous 2 managers before him would have never been able to do that with the negative football they turned out.
Struber did not break his contract, Stendel did , how do we know he was begging for this that or the other ? I agree with you that his position was untenable once he had broken his contract , the club had no option but to get rid & personally I found nothing wrong with the 21 word statement .
