This season has been fantastic. We couldn't have wished for any better, and I'm so grateful to our coaches, players, and staff for doing Barnsley proud. If we don't go up I'll be there for the first home game of the season giving my thanks. COYR.
Someone asked me, before the season started, how I thought we would get on, this season, after our close shave last season. I said my two realistic targets were to not finish below 21st in the division, and to finish above Sheffield Wednesday. Both missions well and truly accomplished. Therefore, failure to win, today, would not be a failure at all, based on my own expectations for this season.
Yup, that’s it. If we win today, amazing. If not, then so be it it’s been a wonderful season either way. The future is bright.
We’ll said! The lads have been fantastic I’ll never forget this season not only because of how well we’ve done but because it provided many happy Saturday afternoons in which was a long and suffering winter for many due to lockdown. Highlight of the week was 3pm on a Saturday when you forget about everything going on in the world. Massive achievement for everyone involved in the club. Regardless of the outcome today smile grab a beer and enjoy what we have achieved!!! COYR
Totally agree. We wanted mid table obscurity this season didn't we, to be a regarded as a success. We got that and more, we've had a wonderful last 10 months. Proud to be a Red.
Agree especially with the start we had no wins from.the 1st 6 games was it? We have done great, our best season for 21 years no matter what happens hopefully we can get a decent win and at least equal bassets team 21 years ago.
This season has been remarkable. Against an incredibly gloomy backdrop, the club has been one of the few bright lights, and has, I'm sure, given all of us a much needed lift during troubled times. I remember the owners, when they first arrived, expressing their astonishment at the way English football clubs were run. They said they wouldn't be going down that route, wouldn't be doing anything crazy, and intended to run BFC on a sustainable basis. The way this season has panned out has proven that it's entirely possible to do so, whilst maintaining a promotion campaign - something most of us would have laughed at 12 months ago. It's been especially nice to see it happen while a cheating club like Onesday have got their comeuppance. The footballing style may not have suited everyone, but by crikey, it's produced the goods. Watching our young lads run their hearts out week in, week out, has been a joy to behold, as has watching their development. They can all hold their heads high, whatever happens today. Each and every one of them has earned the right to call themselves Championship players. In Valerien Ismael, we have a manager who has exceeded all expectations. We must hold on to him for as long as possible. He is, quite simply, magnificent. Behind the scenes, the backroom staff, media team, and all involved with the club have gone above and beyond during exceptionally trying times. They are a credit to the club and to the community. All in all, this season has been one that will live long in the memory. And rightly so. Well done to everyone involved, not least the supporters, many of whom have dug deep to find the finances necessary for the club to survive through a protracted spell without fans inside the stadium. This season's success has been thoroughly deserved by everyone. Now let's give Swansea a game! You Reds!
1000% with this. I’m not very confident we’ll turn it round, but weirder things have happened in football and no matter what, I know they will leave everything out there today and come the final whistle, I’ve never been prouder.
This season has been beyond my expectations. Will I be disappointed if we don’t win today, of course, but this group of players and management team have been outstanding and I for one will be showing my appreciation at the first game next season, whichever league we are in,
Completely agree! Especially when the first objective was to reach 50 points and be safe earlier than last season
Well said, agree 100%. At a time when everyone's life has been somewhat blighted (some more than others), our club has been a welcome oasis for the fans.
It’s going to be tough to turn things around today but I hope we at least give Swansea the fright of their lives. It’s been an excellent season and the players, staff and management should be proud of their success.
Mid table would have been a good season Valerin has raised the level of play and expectation and is always looking for improvement. 77 points wow!
Totally agree, if we lose tonight I won't even be gutted or devastated like I usually am after a defeat, I think our over all season outweighs tonight's result, however....... we have performed better away from home this season and I have feeling we will turn them over tonight COYR
