I'm just chucking this one out for discussion so don't take it the wrong way. If as we suspect he doesn't stay with us as he is headhunted by another club then who is likely to want him? Just about everybody knows his style of play, call it hoofball, vertical or kick and rush, but yet they all want to play like Man City or Liverpool or similar. Would they be prepared to accept such a huge change under Val and forego their ideals. Maybe Val changes his approach depending on which club he is at and their requirements at the time but if not then his style will follow him around.. I've enjoyed watching Leeds this year, they play exciting enjoyable football but let's say Bielsa left and Val took over what would happen to their style? Similarly if Bielsa came to us could our players adapt to his style?
The only club I can see being interested is West Brom, and Iv just had a 5er at 25/1. Can’t see Palace in for him, nor Sheff U. Hopefully he’s here to stay, let’s hope the board back him this summer.
Good point Mr B I could not see him in the premiership as Vals style is one dimensional and you would not get footballers on thousands a week and in their late 20s running around like lunatics. Also the average age of our squad is about 22 who are very fit.Leeds play very good football very fit players, play the press excellent and keep it on the floor that’s what we should be aiming for.Val would probably go back home which I would not blame him for as he will have really missed his family. But it has been a brilliant season so rock on to the next and see what happens.
Much as I love what Val has achieved I'd swap him for Bielsa and his style of football. Bielsa would know which of our players could be adapted to his style I'm sure. Training sessions would be vastly different though, don't think he does as much of the "fun stuff", just a lot of repetition.
Some boards and owners would want Val purely because of his success, disregarding the fact that he needs a certain set of players to compliment his style. This might seem unlikely but you only have to watch a few football documentaries to see that it is true. They would then blame him for not replicating the same success with their older, tippy tappy players and sack him.
Whoever was prepared to take him, I'm not sure the fans would welcome him with open arms due to his style of football.
