Stopping in Ingoldmells for a couple of days in a few weeks time. Years since I've been in that neck of the woods. Just me and my partner going. Any recommendations, food, pubs, activities, walks etc? Cheers
Call in at Lincoln on your way there. Then realise this will be the highlight of your holliday and drive back home.
I'll be there Archey in a couple of weeks in my daughter's caravan while we get bored so if you see an old timmer with a Barnsley shirt on shout up the colliers and I'll have a chat with you, go down every year cannot remember the names of the pubs but daughter as a card which in certain pub's you get a reduction in the price of beer and food.
Depends what your into tbh . There’s a couple of WW2 airfields nearby with museums and aircraft etc . There’s walks in countryside or beachside . There’s sands galore to walk on especially away from crowd with kids or dogs but beware quicksand, tide etc notices . There’s Spaulding if you’re into gardening plants etc . There’s the pleasure beach and market in Ingoldnells , Butlins ,loads of car boot markets.
Lincoln is lovely as others have said. If you like cycling, you can cycle on the sea front from the north end car park, through Mablethorpe to Huttoft - about 8 miles. A very pleasant ride and no hills.
Just down the road from Butlins is a road junction with a nice set of traffic lights you can watch change
Drive up to Saltfleet and along Haven Bank - its a bit rough but there is a car park at the end. From there you can walk several miles around the beach with barely anyone around and watch the seals at this time of year.
Gibraltar Point nature reserve if you're into birds and rare plants. If you don't mind a drive, then Tattershall Castle is definitely worth visiting. You'll probably drive past it on your way there anyway, depending on which route you take. As others have said, Lincoln is absolutely beautiful, and there's easily a day or two of things to do there. Heckington windmill and the Eight Sail brewery are a little treasure if it's a nice day. The brewery is a proper micro brew - literally a garage, so there's not much to see there but I've spent a couple of nice afternoons supping outside. Obviously better to take the train unless someone wants to sit around drinking lemonade! The windmill itself can be done in an hour. Closer to Skegness is the Bateman's brewery in Wainfleet. Right next to the railway station, the tour is amazing value. If I remember correctly it's £13 each and that includes vouchers for a few half pints in the taproom afterwards, or £7 without the ale (though you can pay for what you want at the bar). Really lovely place with a very informative guide. I'd definitely book in advance as it's pretty popular. https://www.bateman.co.uk/book-a-tour/
Had krakow postponed again in June so a week in Skegness booked instead . Not been for about 5 years , but a holiday is a holiday wherever you go
If your thinking of going for a dip, be extremely cautious, the tide there is extremely strong & treacherous.
I think you'd be likely to die of hypothermia long before getting swept out by the tide. In my experience a couple of toes is enough!
