Loved him when he was here, but that was then and this is now. He's just been released by a side who failed to get out of League 1. We are one of the best sides in the division above, hopefully looking to go one further next season. I don't really see where the 2021 version of Josh Scowen fits into that.
I would guess this is a financial and not an ability decision. Be interesting to see where he ends up as I think he'll struggle to get the wages QPR or Sunderland paid.
He done ok and worked very very hard but he didn't really affect the outcome of many games. He played pretty much every week and only had 1 assist to his name for the season. I know that isn't everything but if you play in midfield and you rarely score, rarely provide assists, don't really have a good range of passing, don't like to keep possession and dictate the play then you are going to be under pressure. It isn't so much a lack of flair, for all his good work he was let down by his passing which was very poor. He certainly wasn't our worst midfielder but we are having a real clear out and the majority of our current first team squad will be gone. I hope he gets a good move though, he's an honest player, was always fit and always gave his all.
https://safc.com/news/team-news/2021/may/retained-list-summer-2021 Oddly after a season of failure, looking at the seven names released I wouldn't be surprised to see 3-4 signed up by Championship clubs.
Only saw a bit of their play off game the other day but he made a poor error to give away a penalty and didn't impress at all.
He'd fit in nicely to our style of play imo, but probably a bit old for our model. If Mowatt goes then we need 2 centre mids - a young promising one and Scowen could work out. Always thought Scowen was brilliant.
Yeah he's still under contract but don't think he will kick another ball for us, I think a few others still under contract will also be moved on.
Loved Scowen, great little player. Looked a shadow of that for Sunderland on Saturday. Bit for me. Stick with Romal who will keep developing and should be offered a new contract
Only 26 now seems donkey years since he played for us . Must be playing decent if a few are after him
Wow, interesting if Digby has finally hit some form! Last I'd heard of him he was dropping down the divisions fast
