Texas gun laws

As I said, I'll talk about issues that I want. If that means Texas gun laws, so be it. The fact that I don't live there is irrelevant. I'm not black, but I'll have my say on any racist issues irrespective of where they occur. I'm not an under aged girl, but if issues like grooming gangs crop up I'll have my say. I don't like Donald Trump and I'll happily admit to it.
And I'll continue to voice my opinions on a variety of issues from all over the world. I don't need to ask permission from anyone else to air those views, nor accept unilaterally imposed distanced restrictions on what I can or can't discuss.

Imagine caring about what happens in other parts of the world? I mean, what's the point? There'll be something called foreign aid one day and charities helping kids in starving countries, just you bloody wait and see.

The problem is that, for good or ill, the US has a huge influence on the rest of the world. Off the top of my head, Congo, Cuba, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chile etc, etc. It would be comforting to know that a country that proclaims itself as world leader and arbiter of what is right and wrong wasn't inhabited and influenced by a substantial number of gun crazed, nationalistic right wing crazies who are wedded to the ethos of shoot first and ask questions later. It's a worrying trend that affects us all so, no, I'd rather Texas wasn't left to be Texas unchallenged by common sense.

 

LOL such tolerance! If someone doesn't view the world, society or the future exactly the same as you they must not care they're just heartless. Everyone must agree with you or they're PURE EVIL!!!!

Who are you to say we have issues and problems when you live thousands of miles away?

 

Nobody said we don't have problems, but at least our schools don't have armed guards standing outside.

You absolute hypocrite! You're quick to denounce us for having the audacity to comment about your country, but have no qualms in decrying us and our country.

 

But school shootings will stop when teachers, dinner ladies and parents doing the pick up/drop off are all armed to the teeth.

 

You asked why people care. I gave you a perfectly reasonable response to that question.

By the way that's just a meme I don't mean that literally. I love British people, my family, heritage etc. I consider myself British as well as American.

@mansfield_red See above, I lived in Britain for years but as a response to the heart of your comment it's like someone making a post "I won't visit -insert place- because -insert political reason-" just seems kind of.. Counter productive? Like good for you, don't go to Texas (or states with higher crime rates) if you don't like it or feel uncomfortable, no one is forcing you to go. I think there's worse countries and places out there but if you wanna single out Texas then whatever I guess, but I have the right to an opinion also and my opinion on Texas gun laws is that the people of Texas can decide it among themselves.

Britain attempting to force Americans to give up their arms is something they tried in the revolutionary war era so I find threads like this to be quite tone deaf.

 

We're not forcing anyone to do anything you mentalist. We're just having an opinion on a forum, which we are entitled to do.

 

What? I didn't say you were forcing anyone to do anything, I said Britain as a whole did in revolutionary war times. It didn't work incase you didn't know.
