If we're losing at half time they'll get booed off then clapped back on again after the interval. Never understood that. A bloke near me regularly booed the players when we played tippy tap at the back, be interesting to see what he's like next season. I once questioned why he booed, it seems childish to me that a grown man would shout boo to one of his own players. His response was that he'd paid his money so could boo any time he wanted. Not what I would call a supporter.

Don't think Val will be here and I'd be surprised if the next coach will do things in the same way. Sure we will still use the press, but the vertical football will hopefully vanish into the dust. For the record I've never booed the Reds at Oakwell, but I reserve the right not to watch dross.

We still manage to out pass most of the teams we play even when we bomb the ball forward.

They aren't necessarily aiming to find a red shirt though. Like a rugby player, they are kicking it forward to gain ground and then our pressers can pressurise.

Some people have absolutely dropped their arses the last few days about our ‘style’. Personally, I just want Barnsley to win.

Exactly. The tippy-tappy brigade have a philosophy that you can't concede when you're in possession, so you keep possession even if it means passing it around your own half scoring the square-root of FA. Our philosophy is you can't (usually) concede when the ball's in the other half, so we aim to keep the ball there even if it means giving up possession.

When we win the ball and then attack at pace with the ball on the ground it's some of the best football I've seen us play.

Or more importantly do we manage to hang on to our Coach and the majority of our squad.?
Perhaps this question could be asked again in early August 2021?.

This thread is an indication that some fans will make the playing environment less comfortable next season, and adds strength to the feeling that last season wouldn't have quite turned out how it did, if fans had been in the ground.

Our fans have rarely been a net positive to the team, maybe Premier season apart. We don't give unconditional support, usually reserving the right to criticise because "I've paid my money and I'm entitled to". That may be so, but it doesn't help young players gain confidence, follow the orders given and feel comfortable to express themselves.

considering the response to the Struber style, or in fact any previous team who had the audacity to pass the ball horizontally (get it forward!)

I can only imagine the fans will be loving the direct style.

But of course (as always) whiners are going to whine regardless of style.
