I have no idea, didn’t they get rid of players still under contract. Wasn’t Jordan Green still under contract?

He’s a young lad first time away from home. Too many on this thread also wrote Mowatt and Sibbick off. He may or may not come good. He knows how to finish from what I’ve seen just needs channeling correctly.

It takes a ‘by mutual agreement’ deal to be agreed. I guess the club saves something on the wages front and the player gets a lump sum and at the same time can look for another club.

I think Green had six months of his contract left, McGeehan had a year left when he was released. Schmidt still has two years to run. Would cost a fair bit to release him at the moment.

I can’t imagine that he will be on that much a week, surely better to cut their losses than retain him if they felt he had no future?

    I dunno, say he's on £4k a week that's nearly half a mil over 2 years...

Bit unfair regarding his goal vs Forest. It was hardly 'bundled over the line', and without that goal, we'd have just spent at least one more season in league 1.

Fair dos. Fwiw I personally would get shut of the entire strike force bar Cauley and Morris. Possibly keep Conor, but the rest I would be looking to move on.

It’s all a mystery to me this contract malarkey.

Didn’t we fork out a decent chunk of money for him though, so there’s that to consider as well. Would all add up to quite a write off. May be as well to him on and see how he develops this next season, possibly with another loan. If it does come to loaning him out I would look to getting him into a league one club.

Elliot simeos goal at QPR kept us up.

Luke thomas goal vs Fulham kept us up.

Both must be given a chance then by this logic.

With the exception of Schmidt (I want to see him get a few games under Val first) I actually agree, I'd even go so far as to cash in on Woodrow (unpopular opinion).

Fans can offer opinions of course. But let’s consider what those who manage him may think.

He’s had 3 coaches at Barnsley. One didn’t pick him at all and when signed said he was nowhere near ready. One hardly ever started him, and bemoaned not having any good strikers. One tried him, hooked him after 45 minutes and then loaned him out for the rest of the season... and then brought 2 strikers in.

Maybe there is something to read into that.

Yeah, I not necessarily advocating that he must be kept on, merely suggesting that the investment in him so far may colour the decision on whether to hang on or not.

Its one of the oddities at Barnsley FC.

The most expensive never seem to become the best.

1M Each for Thiam, Thomas, Schmidt, Kane & Wilks.

But Hourihane and Brittain cost 250k I think

OK he scored a couple of vital goals for us the season before but 95% of the time I've seen him on the field in a barnsley shirt he has looked a total passenger.

He is nowhere near good enough for championship football.

Same unfortunately must be said of Adeboyejo Simoes and Miller.

    The stats dont lie.
