    Sir Houghton won't be satisfied until he's covered every square inch of the borough in concrete. He and Jarvis are on an unstoppable (because they get the votes, time after time) crusade to turn us into a dormitory town for Leeds and Sheffield.
    Young Barnsley folk won't get within a million miles of all these new developments because they'll be priced out of the market.

    The first photo was taken from the M1 & the horizon was about 1.5 mile from the town centre :)

    Houghton is the worst thing to happen to this town since Thatcher. In my opinion.

    350k houses are to been built on green belt land across country since planning laws were relaxed and definition of green belt altered.

    Barnsley is incredibly lucky to have such amazing green spaces in majority of directions- have a look on Google Maps from the air. Breathtaking .... thanks for sharing the photos @thetykester

    I am with you there. The site is absolutely enormous,somebody has made a few bob out of selling the land there. Hope they landscape it cos it looks the old pit
    stacks used to at the moment.
