Congratulations to both of you. During WW2 my father (who lived in Wakefield) attempted to arrange his wedding to my mother at Holy Rood, only to be informed as she lived on Vernon Road, outside the boundary, they should marry at St. Helen's in Hoyland! Quite a treck for them in 1942.
On this very day forty nine years ago, I married my wonderful wife. She was literally a teenage bride and quite a number of folks predicted that it wouldn't last. Forty nine years, three sons and two grandkids further down the track, we are as happy as we were the day we first pledged our future together.
Congratulations and Happy Wedding Anniversary (belated). Here's to next year and the Golden Anniversary
Cheers Lil and everyone. Our youngest son has been saturating social media platforms with photos taken on the day. Looking at them and comparing how I look today, prompts the question " they used to call me laughing boy, but look at me now."!!!!!
You are not wrong there Lil. First time I was introduced to her female cousins in Wombwell I was struck by how stunningly good looking they all were. One of them who sold half time draw tickets at Oakwell eventually won a modelling contract with one of the countries leading women's magazines.
A truly lovely post. My heartiest congrats to you and all the family, and here's to many more anniversaries.
