It was entertaining for 4 rounds, going the distance is a big win for Logan Paul. Now I get to catch some of USA vs. MEX as it's gone to overtime lol.
It was reported on LBC that Mayweather referred to the bout purse as "Legalised bank robbery", so it looks likes he agrees with a number of posters on here!
Apparently it isn't anything new- Muhammad Ali boxed some similar matches against likes of wrestlers and ice hockey players. Still, totally ridiculous i agree.
He did and he actually said that pre fight I believe. Obviously enough people wanted to see it to make it worthwhile.
It isn't anything new. It's just there's much more hype and importance placed on them these days because of how different media consumption is. It's an exhibition, without any judges, yet you've got every media channel in the world discussing who was going to win, how the fight was scored, etc. It's one of the smartest business decisions I've ever seen in sports from an individual perspective. Mayweather hasn't had to train much at all, just his regular weekly gym work and a bit of sparring one day a week, meaning it was just part of a normal week and a bit of fun in front of a live audience - but £80 million in the bank at the end of it. I don't agree with it at all but then the same media that criticise it are the ones guilty of hyping it up. They can't have it both ways.
I'd never even heard of this guy until i saw the title. And thought Mayweather retired years ago. Shows how information bubbles occur now in that some people can't move for hearing about the hype while others don't even know it's happening til it's over.
Only knew about it cos I kept sky sports for another month for the cricket and it kept being advertised. Don't have a clue who he is though other than a you tuber.
Completely passed me by, not that i tend to pay much attention to two people trying to give each other brain damage.
Think I might have a go at this. I'm 6'3, 14 stone and a bit mental. Anyone 5'2, 6 stone dripping wet, who wouldn't hurt a fly, want a feight?
Mayweather supposedly takes home at least $80 million while Paul takes at least $20 million. I’ve yet to see a single person admit to paying the idiot tax which is actually buying the ‘fight’, so where’s this money coming from? I understand there’s sponsors etc. But who are they advertising to if nobody watched it? The arena was almost empty, too. I guess the advertisement comes from social media clips that may have sponsors names in the background? Mayweather has called this event “a legal bank robbery”
they were trying to sell.it on box office today. Would love to know how many bought it after they knew the result and saw the clips!
Have you seen the social following of Logan and Jake Paul? I can’t stand either of them but they’re money making machines. Wasn’t paid for by your normal boxing audience
Just watched it. Cos I'm mental. I know nothing about Logan Paul. I imagine he's not the kind of person I would be in to all that much. Genuinely thought he did well. Showed heart and courage and tried to box.
