Bloody rubbish Barnsley…we need to get back to signing players I haven’t heard of so I can slate them before they’ve kicked a ball, its really annoying these no brainer signings
Well he scored 5x more goals than Ivan Toney during his respective loan spell, so by that logic I expect him to score approximately 150 league goals next season.
I think its a good signing. Not good in that he will score 20 goals and be the centre of our attack (but might be) but good in that its a free transfer, not many available strikers to be had in our budget right now, comes off the back of a good season at Motherwell so confidence high, matured a bit but still not the finished article so something to work with, salary wont break the bank, gives more options at sniffing goals around the 6 yarder - something we have missed. Im sure Val will have had a say in if he can he add something and can he develop him further and should chip in a few more than some current strikers. We know want we get in attitude so while its a risk the impact of it not working isnt huge. So for me there seems to be more logic in signing him than not.
Don't think he'd last long under VI if he brings any issues like that with him. Hopefully he's matured since then, I expect so.
He was a slow burner at Motherwell the season just gone. Scored 1 in 10 then finished the season stronger notching 11 in 21.
If hes sorted out his attitude in the last few years then could be a great signing because like many before him he had all the ability. Shame that he's wasted so many years of his career but hopefully he's realised that needs to change Edit: just read that back and realised it looks like a complete dig at him. It isn't. What I mean is he will know what mistakes he's made in the past and I hope (and believe) that since his successful Scottish stint he's realised what needs to be done
Let’s also remember he played under Wilson last time, in the midst of a massive restructuring job. This time is different, we play a certain style & he will have been highlighted through the spreadsheets to fit into the system, & from what I remember I think he will be a real coup.
Well, I didn’t run down the street punching the air at this signing but it looks like decent business because: a) it’s another hole in our old transfer policy of only signing Under 11s. b) he hasn’t cost anything c) happy with the three years. If it doesn’t work out we’ll just sell him to Wednesday. Welcome back DC. Now if you could just be as good as your Dad, that would be really helpful.
Schmidt and Miller are definitely out of the door. I think Chaplin may move on too. That would leave us with Woodrow, Morris, Adeboyejo, Frieser and Cole.
That Gyorkes was on loan at Coventry, looked a tidy player at their place. Clearly we’re looking at players to fit into Vals system, so that’s a good sign, and hopefully Mowatt signs the dotted line, that will surely prove to Val we mean business!
