If the John Barnes rap was the 2nd verse of three lions, you'd have the perfect song.

Love them both but reckon World In Motion is better.

If it's Football songs in general Nesun Dorma takes some beating. Opera isn't my thing but that is a tune.

3 lions for me just captures what is needed as a football song.
World in motion is a better piece of music out of a football context but doesnt get the same football effect for me

I'm not sure Nessun Dorma counts as a football song strictly speaking but it never fails to give me goosebumps

When New Order were doing the video and recording of it and asked the England players along hardly any turned up as they though it was just anonther gimmicky football song.

    John Barnes
    Peter Beardsley
    Gazza
    Steve McMahon
    Chris Waddle
    Des Walker

    Were the 6 i believe.

This. It's quintessentially English as well, with the optimism framed in the context of our history of failure. It's not "we're the best, we're going to win" it's "we probably won't win, but **** it, it's good to dream"

My thoughts already summed up by a couple of others. World in Motion is a much better song. Three Lions is just a absolute brilliant chorus perfect for grounds and boozers.
