YouGov is nothing to do with the government. It's a private polling company. Why would they try to fix the polls they do. I think you're mixing it up with GOV.UK.
Melville is hilarious he doesn’t even try to side the fact he’s been paid to pump out lies and disinformation on a daily basis attracting the maddest people in society. Hats off take the money lad.
When are they going to be made accountable? This is solely down to this fùcking shambles of a government and was entirely preventable. Continuing to allow numerous flights into the country from India and elsewhere when it was known about the Delta variant was worse than criminal. I'm sick of these useless Tory fùckers.
I genuinely don't even notice it anymore. I'm not saying that as an argument for them or to try and look good or anything it's just simply the truth; it doesn't bother me even a tiny bit apart from one mask where I tied the straps a bit too tight so one ear gets a little sore after a while (I could untie it but I've been too lazy to so far).
Data not dates, right? It was stupid to announce these dates so long ago. I probably said as much at the time. It was always going to lead to what's happening now. There's a rising number of cases and right now there's not enough data to determine what effect the vaccine has on the case to hospitalisation to death ratio. I don't think anybody is arguing for a return to a full lockdown, but it makes sense to keep things like masks and social distancing for a couple more weeks until the data becomes clear. Every day that passes is a huge improvement when it comes to the number of people vaccinated and hopefully getting closer to herd immunity, so this clearly isn't "indefinite". The only potential worry is that the vaccines may be less effective against certain variants, but it's a constantly changing situation. This is why announcing the lifting of restrictions 4 months ahead of time was possibly the stupidest thing the government could have done. And that's saying a lot, given all the ridiculous decisions they've made just in the last year. But overall, I'm going to trust the people that know what they're talking about, the scientists.
Still waiting for anyone to say what they want to happen if the vaccine is shown not to work as well as expected.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that, but I think the only answer at that point would be that the vaccines would need to be reworked and probably a booster shot given, probably only to the most vulnerable. However even if the vaccine is not completely effective it’ll still be a significant improvement on facing the situation without a vaccine, so I couldn’t see a full lockdown being necessary. I could at that point see your initial idea of locking down only the most vulnerable being feasible, because at least then the ‘outside population’ are not just spreading it without any protection and without any immunity. It all depends on the level of protection. In my opinion (and im pretty sure it’s been this way since the start, but it feels like so long ago now I can’t even remember) any restrictions should be based on number of cases, in relation to the observed ratio of case:hospitalisation:death. No restrictions or relaxing of restrictions should be based in any way on the number of vaccinations given. The vaccines will just hopefully help the other data improve.
There was intense pressure to give a "roadmap" out of restrictions at the time. And the dates were on track until they've fùcked up with this Delta variant.
Well if we go back up to 100s of deaths a week then there won't be an alternative to lockdown because the hospitals would be over run again. Just desperately hoping that the vaccine works well enough to avoid that scenario.
I agree with data not dates. So as facts show we are doing better than every single SAGE guess we should go back to normal life.
Without the relation of this to the predicted cases 2 to 3 weeks prior this data is absolutely useless. If you have a sage prediction for cases along with the 'actual' being just as many as predicted, you're onto a winner. I suspect you don't have that though.
