    a couple of years back bananarama were going to do their first EVER live show, unbeleivble, they made a fortune and never sang a live gig, stock aiken and watermen truly did kill music and musicians back in the day...

    Not because I dislike their music just think they're a crap band. First time I went to see them they didn't turn up, no announcements, we'd got tickets, they just didn't bother. Second time was Glastonbury 92 and no one could hear them. I could have watched Carter USM on the main stage and had a miles better time. Third time was give out but don't give up tour. Bobby took to the stage completely plssed, tried twirling his mic, chucked it in the air, dropped it, four times and fell down. Twice. The band were too stoned to play in time and then left the stage after 25 minutes and people clapped for an encore! I left.

    If I ever bump into Mr Gillespie he'll be hundred quid lighter after he leaves the vicinity.

    Great little band. Just feels a bit pervy weird watching. One for the kids & middle age Japanese business men.
    They played a tiny venue in Camden Town, a few years back. Electric Ballroom, after doing arenas & stadiums in Japan. God knows how they got their backline in that room?:)

    Trust me, Bob’s a really nice lad. You probably caught him at the wrong time. Too much money in his pocket & no discipline.

    I was a fan in their early days. Saw them at the Limit Club in 1981/2? & a bunch of times after. Unforgettable Fire probably their best LP, alongside their first. Shame 11 O'Clock Tick tock wasn't on that one TBH, contractual reasons as they were signed to CBS Ireland prior to deal with Island.

    I find the Echo & Bunnymen & Comsat Angels have lasted the test of time better. They had a similar fan base in the early 80's, up till the War LP.

    Anyway, that's enough on U2.

    One of my bands were clearly the sh1ttest ever. I can think of one or two line ups in particular. One was kinda OK, the last band before I quit playing & moved into music retail & a masters degree.

    Unlike Johnny then, the very definition of discipline when he had money. Saw him a few times including a brief acoustic set where I managed to be in his firing line when he threw a glass of Irish cream into the audience. His heart wasn’t in it that night.

    John was hit & miss. I saw good ones, bad gigs & dull crap in the middle. He was great on the 84 tour with Hanoi Rocks. But had to be. Cos they would have kicked his arse. :rolleyes:

    I saw Primal Scream several times from 1988 to 1996 & have to say it was always a superb show. I saw the Stone Roses twice, in 1988 & 1989 & both times Ian Brown couldn't hit a note. I saw them one more time in 1996 in Sheffield, after Squire had left & that was shockingly bad.

    Experiences, hey. That's why you go to live gigs. Some are blindingly good & some are turgid. You have more chance of entertainment at a gig than a football match I'd argue, but the gig is well expensive now for any gigs over about 500 people.

    Sounds like you've just dropped on the bad ones there mate. I've seen Primal Scream more than any other band and they've always been quality. The first time i saw them at Sheffield Octagon in 2002 i think on the Evil Heat tour and they completely blew me away! Not so keen on their last few albums but they still put on a cracking live show.

    Pink Floyd. Their army of fans are REALLY into them and don’t even acknowledge that any other bands even exist. Whilst the rest of us music fans are just bewildered as to how they are so popular.

    Yngwie Malmsteen, saw him and his band as a support act. Interminable guitar solos, total dirge. Fell asleep listening to one track and woke up with the encore still thinking it was the same song. Truly terrible.

    For many years the answer to the question for me was Elf , Ronnie Dio’s first band , I saw them a couple of times supporting Deep Purple and apart from Ronnie’s vocals the rest of the band including Dio playing bass were shocking , I couldn’t believe Ritchie Blackmore more or less had all the band playing on the first Rainbow album .However having seen Phillip Selways solo band ( Radiohead drummer) at Underneath the Stars festival in 2016 they take the accolade, Truely shocking .We were about 8 rows from the front in the large Marquee for his set , after 2 songs we were the front row with virtually everyone walking out
